Reading here, I'm a bit confused about the SD card features. I understand I can download games on the SD card. 2 Questions:
If my system gets broke some how, can I just put the SD card into the new system?
If I fill up the included 4 g card with games, can I just add another SD card and switch between the 2? Trying to decide if I should get a 32g card for it, or wait and see if I actually fill the 4g card. I plan on buying cart's only, but I know there are some online only games that my wife might want. I know the 32G cards are cheap, but no use in buying one if I don't need it.
No if you system breaks you cannot just put the SD card into another system. Because the account is tied to the system you would have to send the broken system to Nintendo so that they can transfer the stuff off of the broken system and put onto a new system. Likewise if you want to change systems like go from a 3DS to a 3DSXL you will have to do a systems transfer before putting the SD card into the new system.
You could do that with two cards but then it again in my opinion its better just to have the bigger SD card that way you are not having to swap out cards or you lessen the chance of losing the the card your not using.

Um, the SD card gets tied to the individual system - if you put it in another 3DS it will do nothing. So if it ever breaks and you need a new system... you'll need to hope that it's still in good enough condition to perform a system transfer, or else you'll lose everything.
As for the size, I have a 16GB SD card, and it's plenty for me! I do a lot of downloading, though, so I might eventually want to get a bigger one.
