Magic users don't generally have as much range and attacking does use hp. However it can be very useful, some magic is pretty powerful (at the cost of more health) and thunder also has a range of 1-3. An item you can get also increases the range of all magic attacks to 5. (And heals 5 each turn, having an item to constantly heal you can be quite handy for mages)

@Grumblevolcano Archers in Gaiden had 1-3 range naturally, 1-5 range with bows equipped (equipable weapons are rare in Gaiden, with units generally just using their base strength to attack). And bows had a base hit of 70.
Anyways, something interesting that I'm surprised more haven't mentioned: https://serenesforest.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/16807451...
Alm has an Iron Sword. Which did not exist in the original Gaiden. Looking like there will be some more additions/changes than we were expecting.

Something I should mention about the Gamespot article: people have been saying it deconfirms support convos in SoV. However, it doesn't. The specific line is "Characters no longer support eachother in battle", with the meaning being the pair-up mechanic is gone. The also calls the weapon triangle the "weapon wheel" (which yeah, also isn't present), so he's clearly not that familiar with the franchise.
They are keep this very true to the original. weapon durability was not in gadien(I think)
But I decided to get the mood with my profile picture.
I am hoping get this game launch day.
Also get ready for the NEW3DS version of warriors

I don't mind the lack of a pair up mechanic as long as support bonuses have range like they do in the GBA titles. The pair up mechanic was pretty cool, but it reduced the support stat boosts in my eyes.

Roy has lower luck than he had at base in FE6. Heh.
Also, that shot of Alm before the crowd is almost an exact mirror of the scene in SD where Marth liberates Altea and stands overlooking the crowd. It has to be intentional.
And a lot of people have compared the village exploration to SMTIV, which coupled with the dungeon crawling has had some label this the "true crossover".

@Frosty_09 The Dungeons in Gaiden were more or less just there to begin with, so what's in SoV already blows it out of the water. Same with towns-- there might be four houses and three or four villagers with one or two boxes' worth of dialogue.

@Frosty_09 From the start I viewed the game as a side project-- I just have lower expectations for it.
Compared to Awakening and Fates, yeah it has a lower budget. There isn't much else to say, really.
