Topic: Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan

I just pre-ordered this baby. I didn't play the first two but I played the 3rd one and beat it. Awesome game beautiful music and modern graphics, with a fun gimmick of draw your own map. You can make your own team with their own vocations. Hard as hell and fans of the series and genre wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm hyped for this, are you?

Not as hyped for it as I am for Fire Emblem: Awakening, but I am planning on getting Etrian Odyssey IV. Drawing your own map was the best use of the DS touch screen I've seen. This latest Etrian Odyssey has a new easy mode too I believe, so good news for fans who want it their way.

The Casual mode, a welcomed addition indeed. More games should be like that easy, normal and hard, since there are different kinds of players.

Although casual is the "easy" mode, I still think it will be harder than most modern games out there lol.

I never really got into the map drawing part. It would be one thing if you had to do it freehand, but with the graph lines in place it is just tossing in needless extra steps that test nothing but patience and a very minimum amount of attention to your surroundings. I like being able to leave notes on the map ala Phantom Hourglass, but not having to outline the walls themselves.

It is not a big complaint though, especially with the automap feature in the sequels.

I like the mapping thing and the crazy hard difficulty. I'm excited for this too! I'll pre-order once they announce a bonus (hoping for art book or CD) like I always do one month before release.

Also what does the |OT| in the title stand for?

This will be my first Etrain Odyssey game.

Which is kind of funny, because every time I mark a thread as IOTI, the mods rename it as discussion (something about only mods & the game's devs being able to declare a NL thread as "official"), yet this happens to no one else who does the same thing.

Oh, on topic, the game looks really cool.

Well as far as I can see from the youtube videos and my past experience with the series, the formula looks the same, although big detailed changes happened. First is first, the enemies are animated instead of being a picture of the enemy. Second, the world looks like it's bigger. There's a theme in each game and this game's theme looks like it's going to be the air, and you're exploring from dungeon to dungeon on a blimp. There's a few new classes, easier to manage and less tough to grind.

And of course the casual difficulty and 3D visuals. As far as I can tell they're getting better by the entry.

Although I don't think this will recieve a pre-order bonus. My copy of EOIII came with a Map of the world on one side and a awesome poster showing all the playable characters on the other side.

I'm super hyped for this. Played and own all three. I love the fact you have to explore every corner and wall to find hidden paths. The sailing in the third one was a breath of fresh air so to speak. Can't wait to see how good (or bad) the 3d might look. I wonder if Atlus used it in a different way. Anyways 2013 can't come soon enough!

Hey there man. Yeah the 3d looks amazingly well for this game, the enemies are animated in battle. And the F.O.E.'s have their own pre-battle avatar.
Check some of the vids on youtube, it doesn't dissapoint one bit, on the visual side at least.

Nintendo Power says this latest Odyssey is reverting the series's often-esoteric character classes into more conventional RPG archetypes. So no more farmers? I don't know how I feel about that.

I'm interested in the series so the demo is a great place to start. I'll need something to calm me after the Rayman Legends fiasco.

Put it on Casual if you can. Otherwise it might have the opposite effect.

Just the opening music is wonderful. Can't wait to pick up the cd! Now to play this game a bit!

Calming is one word I would NOT use to describe Etrian Odyssey.
