Looking at the games coming for 3DS, there's more original games than remakes (3 remakes and 3 ports from what I know of). There's a video on youtube that shows 60 games- a little more than half I never seen before. And a good chunk that may not even get localized
I think the main complaint is that most of the biggest titles on 3DS are either ports or remakes

Here's a better idea. Let's have Retro do a sequel to DKC returns. They did an amazing job bringing the series back to it's roots! I'd rather continue that classic style and leave DK 64 in the past where it belongs.

Hmmmm...nah. Enough sidescrollers. I want to see a 3D Donkey Kong game where the mistakes the original had are corrected.

As much as I liked DK 64 honestly it almost killed the DK franchise. Not because it was a bad game exactly but so many were divided by it. Plus the fact that after that there weren't any really remarkable games in the series until DKC returns. The games had lost the quality standard most first party Nintendo games aspired to.

Rare supported the GBA and DS after their move to Microsoft, so there's no reason they couldn't support the 3DS with a remake title of some sort. DK64 isn't so likely, but I'd be interested in a BanjoKazooie 1+2 pack.

That's most likely going to change when Windows 8 tablets hit.

I liked rareware's Banjo Kazooie games. I watched my friend play a bit of DK64 and always wanted to play it since then. A 3DS remake would be awesome, but I think there's too much content owned by rareware for this remake to be possible.
I'm sure Donkey, Diddy, Cranky, Lanky, Tiny, Chunky, Funky, Wrinkly, Candy, and K.Rool are all purely Nintendo characters... but im not sure about the rest of it ( then again, I never played the game, so I'm not entirely sure what else there was ) Rare may even hold copyrights over the music.
They'd probably have to change, and rename everything into something much different from the original. This would probably only really bother people who played the original though.
I just want to be able to play this game.
I don't always give myself signatures, but when I do, you just read it.
