anyone know what the dot that sometimes appears over the friend cards is?

I think the dot appears if he/she has a new status might be wrong though

I think that it means that person is currently online. I'm not 100% sure so feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

there is a jingle then a (possibly red; I'm colour blind) dot appears above the card. It cant be onlineness because the entire card changes colour when people are online. My theory is that it relates to the other communications the 3ds does; most probably spotpass, as you are semi online for a moment.

I think the dot appears when you change your status! At least I think it does

I've just checked and figured it out! When I view that person's profile card, and move onto other cards, the dot disappears (because I've now read their status)
