Dr. Nabbit has been officially unveiled as the next character to arrive in Dr. Mario World (and before you ask, no, this isn't an April Fools' joke).
Nintendo's smartphone game, which will actually reach its first anniversary this summer, will receive the new character from 2nd April at 5pm JST (thanks, Japanese Nintendo). That means that players around the world should expect it to go live at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am BST / 10am CET the following morning.
Dr. Nabbit will be released alongside new events and new stages, which you can see in the image below. The New Super Mario Bros. U enemy might seem like an odd pick for a doctor at first, but the game also has the likes of Dr. Luma, Dr. Baby Daisy, and Dr. Fire Rosalina, so what do we know? Plus, Nabbit's pretty cool, so we won't hear a bad word said about him.
Have you been keeping up with Dr. Mario World since it launched last summer? Let us know with a comment below.

Well, why not? Haven’t seen nabbit in a new role for a game that isn’t nsbudelxe in a while.
@Alpha008 that isn't what?
@Savino it’s actually a decent game and can be happily played for long periods without paying a single penny
Cool! Now lets get Dr Wart, Dr Fry Guy, Dr Mouser etc haha
Nintendo, please put Dr Mario Vs mode on Switch Online. Come on now, stop being silly.
Is there an end to this barrel being plumbed?
Well, it's not yet another Baby/Fire/Whatever version of an existing character, that's commendable.
I just can't play Nintendo on non Nintendo devices... I just can't.
I honestly wouldn't feel safe having nabbit as my doctor
@Savino multiplayer is free and unlimited. Single player does work around a 5-life System, but they recharge quickly, and you get 1 back when you clear a stage for the first time.
There is a gacha style character unlock system which admittedly is borderline pay-to-win, but I’ve been playing since launch and have unlocked or upgraded 67 of the 83 characters and not paid a penny.
It’s there, but it’s nowhere near as intrusive as MK or AC. Maybe about on par with FEH. It’s easily ignored.
How do we know this is not an April Fools’ joke?
This game is amazing, happy to see Dr. Nabbit.
I don't know if I'd trust him as my doctor
@Savino gameboy games are technically mobile games. As are DS games, and switch games. I have played plenty of great mobile games on my iPhone/iPad. There are shovelware games on my ps4 as well as my iPhone too. Play games because they are good, and not because of the console/hardware. That’s what immature fanboys do.
@Donutman People always forget how good Nintendo is at gaming. They make the best mobile games ever created. So many amazing and diverse ones to be played.
Still no Drs. Wario and Waluigi?
Aaaahh Nabbit. The new Waluigi. Or something.
I want to see dr king k. Rool
The Mario games, not just Dr. Mario, need more characters from the extended Mario Universe.
We need more Donkey Kong characters (Dixie, Cranky, Funky, K. Rool), Wario characters (Mona, Jimmy T., 9-Volt, Ashley, Captain Syrup), more Yoshi characters (Poochy, Burt the Bashful, Raphael the Raven), RPG Characters (Geno, Mallow, Paper Mario, Fawful, Antasma, Midbus).
bruh
isnt that great?
Dr Nabbit is solely responsible for the opioid epidemic
Nabbit would just nab my organs and sell it on the Black Market
I just want a Dr. Baby Peach, please!
@Donutman The term "mobile" is used almost exclusively to refer to games on mobile phones (basically almost always modern smartphones these days). Video game consoles that you can take with you and play on-the-go are usually called "handhelds".
When you say "mobile game", almost no one will include, say, a 3DS game in that category.
I loved Dr Mario world... and Dr Mario in general. Then Mario kart tour came out and it was just better.
@TheGameSquid and I will stand by that while I was playing bejeweled or plants vs zombies on my pc, others where playing it on their phones. What’s the difference? Candy crush is bejeweled. I played a great dues ex game on my iPhone a couple years back, not as good as playing it on my ps3/Wii u. I played a great metal gear game on my 3ds, mostly sitting in my truck on lunch breaks. it wasn’t as good as metal gear 4, but still a great portable game. I’ll stand by that great games are on all platforms, and so isn’t shovelware. Using “mobile” is like a derogatory use of the word and is unfair to how many hours I’ve put into hearthstone on both my pc and phone. And still have never paid a cent. Sorry blizzard, but I own every other game from you too. 4 versions of Diablo 3 should be enough.
@Severian Those are already in the game.
@Chibi_Manny She is already in the game.
In the Mario-universe anyone can be a doctor. Poor residents!
