Bought the 1st fighters pass out of faith, and could’ve done without half the new characters. Gonna wait on this one until I know at least half the lineup.

Everyone can tick Baby Mario, Toon Zelda, Cinderace, Fire Emblem 2021 avatar, and Pink Gold Peach off their wish lists.

Yeah gonna hold off until its confirmed none of them are Fire Emblem characters.

I'll get it, but not right away. Maybe I'll wait until at least the first character has been revealed. Still, hyped for it. I liked all the first Pass's Super Smashers.

I only really enjoyed Banjo's addition, but the other characters are very fun. Will buy regardless

Definitely getting all characters. Man, this game's roster count is gonna be insane when all is said and done. Heck, the amount of characters and content in the game now is insane. 😀

I gotta say I'm a little disappointed in Nintendo for following Tecmo with the bundle exclusives. I thought about buying some of the add-ons for Fire Emblem Warriors but never did because I wasn't sure if I'd ever really want Lucia's wedding outfit.
😌 Oh well. At least the bundles aren't almost a hundred bucks... yet.

I’ll probably get it once the first couple of characters are revealed or it goes on sale. The first fighter pass was solid enough. Banjo and Joker made the entire pass more than worth it for me. I didn’t care Much for Hero or Terry but I’m fine with them. And while I’m not excited that another Fire Emblem character got it, I did love Three Houses and think Byleth has a really neat move set, so I’m actually pretty interested to try him/her out this weekend.

Bought it before even trying out Byleth. I want all the characters and stages regardless of what they are. And I love playing as Terry which I honestly never expected to enjoy.

@KryptoniteKrunch I know, and it's getting so hard to wait...I just wanna see the full, complete roster dang it! I also have a feeling there will be a third fighter pass with four more fighters in it...It would line up perfectly with those 16 extra character slots that were datamined in World of Light.

Man, it's gonna suck when everyone gets pissed at the inevitable pokemon. I mean, it should have those fighting bears from the dlc. There's no real stance character. the Pokemon trainer, maybe, but it'd be cool to have a traditional one. That's definitely my bet. The starters are a bit too boring.

@geo-shifter Well, it is over the course of almost 4 years. If you think of it that way it's not really anything. That's also why you should just buy them piece meal. It becomes 6 bucks every, like 3 months. You don't even really notice it. It's kinda insidious in that way.

Day 1 purchase for me. Brought the first set outright as a means of showing support to Sakurai and co.

Yep, that's me to a T. The roster could be Waluigi, Rillaboom, Toxtricity, Leif, Steve, and Geno and I would still feel satisfied with my purchase. (For those wondering, my list is comprised of characters that I would not care for at all).

@Smashfan502 Believe it or not, I have played Super Mario RPG and felt nothing for Geno in that game. He was immediately booted from the party when I got Bowser. I don't hate the character or anything, and I recognize a lot of people want him, but I personally do not care about him at all.

To me, the first pass was a huuuuge disappointment..
A few of the characters were alright, but none of them were truly exciting enough to warrant the purchase.

While I'm almost certain I'll enjoy pass 2 more than I did the first, I'm going to buy them individually this time around.

Lesson learned. :l

You'd think they'd offer a nice discount or toss in the Mii costumes for those who buy blind..

@Smashfan502 Sure it's fun to anticipate, but I'm also ready for this game to be complete, and I really wish we didn't have to wait so long for that to happen.

@Smashfan502 His character was bland, especially in comparison to literally every other party member. Of course, that is my opinion and I don't expect the Geno faithful to agree with that. I'll be happy for those that want Geno in, but don't expect me to be cheering for his inclusion. Of course, there are characters I do like, Geno just isn't among them. I also doubt I'll convert if he gets in, because Olimar, Terry, and Incineroar are already in Smash and wouldn't you know it I STILL don't care about them. But who knows right? Maybe I will like him when he gets in.

I'll be getting the pass eventually, but not immediately.

Jesus, people going off about Fire Emblem in here like it filled up the entire first CP. It's almost like there's a barren wasteland where people were once grateful for Joker, Hero, Banjo, and Terry.

I think I will repeat my strategy and wait until the release of the first fighter of this second pass. There's no reason to buy it at the moment in my opinion.

It's really dumb to buy a character pass before even one of the characters is out.

I bought the pass. Traded Pokemon Sword to the Gamestop for the ~$30 (?£) credit and picked up Nintendo giftcards since Pokemon was just riding the pine anyway. I didn't even beat it. Sword really felt like nonesense. You have games coming out looking like Uncharted, Little Nightmares, and Luigi's Mansion 3, and then you have games looking like Pokemon Sword... and if you're reading this, you could have come up with a better story for Pokemon Sword. Now, Three Houses doesn't look like a Rockstar game, but it's combat and story felt immersive enough I actually like playing it. I'm like 105hrs in. I only bought it a week before I heard about Byleth, too, so that cushioned the blow of the monotonous character. 4 out of 5 ain't bad. We'll see if Sakurai can pull a rabbit out 5 out of 6 times, too. You all have a great morning!

Not interested in purchasing the pass- I’ll be purchasing select characters as they are released.

I'm guessing after the first pass and its relative disapointment, a lot of people are going to just wait and see. Like, I don't know, just in case the very first character of this pass is revealed a Fire Emblem character. Again.

I purchased it! I really enjoy the build up to the new character and it makes me revisit the game if I haven’t touched it in a while. Also the stages are as good as the characters! 😀

Like last time I'll probably wait till a couple of characters have been revealed, but unless it's worse than the first pass, I'll likely end up getting it at some point.

The first Pass was excellent.
Yes, Byleth was a little disappointing considering the iconic 3rd party choices for the previous 4 packs, but it's still a good fighter and Three Houses was great.
It's very understandable that Sakurai closed out the first Pass with the obligatory Fire Emblem character if he's saving an exciting choice to make a big splash as the first fighter of Pass 2, which is probably going to be the case.

We all KNEW (even if you don't want to admit it) a Three Houses character was likely in the works, we just didn't expect it in the first Pass, breaking the trend of the previous fighters.
And no, I doubt Nintendo will have another Fire Emblem game out by 2021, so don't worry about that.
The only "sure thing" predictions for Pass 2 at this point are a Sword/Shield Pokémon and PROBABLY a Breath Of The Wild 2 character.

I'll wait till the first character is released. I want to save my money. But when Fighter 6 comes out I'll be shelling out that $30.

I paid 60 euros for a game packed with content, and then you're telling me 6 more fighters is gonna set me back almost half of that?

So to get both fighter packs i'd have to spend nearly as much as the main game, for maybe 1% of the amount of content of the main game... No, thanks.

I can't imagine not buying it honestly. I want the full roster no matter what. I think people forget that back in the day (90s) you only got about ten fighters on most fighting games. It's amazing to have this many choices whether you use half of them or not as it keeps it fresh. Smash Ultimate will go down as the best fighting game of all time.

I was excited about 4/5 characters in the first pass (couldn't care less about Terry) and I didn't care about the plant so I was happy I didn't have to pay for him.

But I think I'll wait to see the first fighter. If that hypes me, I'll just buy it then

This is how DLC should be, the original game is already full with content, they didn't actually cut stuff from the base game to sell us later.

Plus, they gave us a few extra free content like the Home-Run Contest and the Stage Builder.

And no microtransactions, giving players the illusion of having the option of getting the content for free or paying to get it faster, then screwing everyone no matter which option you pick.

Those who want to only purchase select characters, you'll be spending more money if ALL of them are good ones. But if you're gonna miss out on select characters, then NO ANCIENT ARMOR FOR YOU, unless you can just choose to buy the Ancient Armor with your Rupees and junk in Breath of the Wild.

As for me, I'm on the fence between buying this, getting KH3 Re:Mind, or finishing the payoff for the TurboGrafx-16 Mini and affiliated accessories. I'll have to wait until February to think about it.

@Nintendan_91 piranha plant was just for buying the game earlier, it had nothing to do with the first fighter pass.

This pack is for people like me who already decided they will buy all characters no matter who they are and will save some money by purchasing all at once, don't buy this if you are afraid you are getting a character you don't want.

I'll buy all DLC because even if I don't use the character later, the characters still come with extra content like a Stage, Terry's DLC was worth buying thanks to the King of Fighters Stadium alone.

@YoshiAngemon the Ancient Armor is a Mii Costume - the bonus isn’t for BotW. It will certainly be purchasable separately later on, but honestly a majority of players don’t care about collecting the DLC Mii costumes. And true, buying all 6 characters individually will likely cost more, but the people holding out probably won’t get all 6, they’re the pickier players that already only cared about one or two characters in the first pack. The odds of them wanting all 6 are low enough that’s it’s worth the money saved by not preordering the pass.

@ShadJV Then come tournament time, they're gonna be left in the dark over a character NOBODY else would dare use. I'm gonna buy the Fighters Pass Vol. 2, anyway.

Competitive players are a small minority of the Smash Bros market and they definitely are getting the pass, no one here who says they will wait to get characters they want are likely competing in any tournaments. You’re responding to the wrong people. Tournament players always get the passes because they have to at least practice against those characters.

I will be waiting to see who the characters are this time. ..... Sorry Nintendo, but you won't catch me again. There is really no point to preorder this.

@Kalmaro Don't you know that Nintendo OWES us every piece of optional content they develop for the game I bought? Just like the car dealer owed me a backup camera, heated seats, leather upholstery, remote start, and a sunroof on the base model car I bought.

Seriously, I will probably get FP2, but there's no rush until at least the first fighter nears release. I for one am very pleased with how FP1 turned out.

Nope not buying it until it had a character I like which they should know cause I listed them here throughout the time this game came out.

@nlsavaru 6 characters and stages (plus music tracks and other extras) that require extra development time, resources, licensing, etc.
Smash DLC fighters are not content that was cut from the base game; they're extra fighters created for the fans and the cost has to justify keeping the project going, paying employees, etc.
Very reasonable and standard price for a fighting game DLC pass, most of which don't even contain this much content.

As I said, I didn't expect you to agree with me calling him bland and I am not going to argue as I am not trying to convince you he's a bad character or anything. Revolutionary may be a bit of a stretch for his character though. Anyway, calling me picky for being ambivalent towards a single character and telling me to lighten up and enjoy a game I have already played and enjoyed is a tad asinine wouldn't you say?

I bought it immediately, tho I do agree that it’s a bit preemptive considering we know nothing of who these fighters are.. That said, I have a feeling they’ll all be fun to play at the least. Plus as others have mentioned, getting all the stages and music really makes the cost worth it to me. And how could you not want a completed roster!? (This is all optional bonus content remember;)

That mii costume bonus on the other hand.... wouldn’t say that makes a preorder worth it, they could’ve at least added a couple more costumes to sweeten the deal. It’s basically .75cents off as that’s the cost of the mii dlc lol.

If it's a game I like, I'll pay for all the DLC because I want all the extras. The fact that this is the ULTIMATE edition and some of these characters won't be in future editions makes it a day one buy. Okay Byleth was not a great choice imo but Banjo, Joker and Hero were all worth it to me. Say what you will but the fact that this game has a 2nd fighter pass it just awesome.

Crash and Rex seem likely, an ARMS representative would be cool and unique bringing life into the sadly forgotten game. Geno and Waluigi would be great and crowd pleasing. I think a new Zelda rep should be added alongside Bandana Waddle Dee. Personally I'd love to see Tails but since he got a Mii outfit he's very unlikely.

@Smashfan502 eh. When you’re paying for every bit of content, why pay for something you don’t even want? Especially if money is tight? $30 is a lot, you can buy plenty of other games with that. Besides, Sakurai deserves a break, he’s spent long enough on this game and this series.

@Smashfan502 Ah okay, the word you're looking for is unique, he can't be revolutionary because, as to your own words, there is no other character like him, meaning nobody copied him so he didn't change the landscape of character design or anything. "Revolutionary" is a term that shouldn't be used lightly, very few things in gaming are. I accept your apology and I'm sorry to say I just can't like those characters the same way you do. My starter in gen 7 was Popplio, so I have a much stronger attachment to Primarina than I do Incineroar. If you want examples of characters I do like I'd be happy to tell you.

I got the first pass when I got the game and I was surprised that I liked every single character. They were all fun to play in their own way. I will be getting the second pass soon because I will end up getting it anyway, may as well get the exclusive too. Smash has been a wonderful experience so I feel good supporting their continued efforts to expand the game. Some devs you don't think twice about spending money with.

People say that Mortal Kombat character won't fit in Smash Bros.
Well. Sub-Zero with freezing ability, and no fatality sure could have been in the game. Scorpion is quite more nasty than Sub-Zero, and is why Sub-Zero is more likely without fatalities and blood.
His moves and freezing ability alone works fits right in.

I only bought Terry Bogard and not the entire Pass 1 and I do not regret, especially after the 5th fighter was announced. Definitely won't be buying Pass 2 blindly. Really only reason I play this game is because of Terry Bogard, it's the reason I finally caved and bought a Smash game for the first time in my life. With Samurai Shodown coming out on Feb. 25, I doubt I'll play Smash much at all. It's going to take a character as equally important to me as Terry to get my interest into Smash up again. I'd hit the floor if M.Bison or Raiden make an appearance. Doubtful, but it's gonna take someone on that level.

I'll wait on who the first fighter is before considering the pass, don't get me wrong the additions of Joker and Banjo were good.
