You won't be surprised to hear that we're rather fond of video games here at Nintendo Life, with many of us boasting frankly ridiculous playtime hour totals on some of our favourite games, but not one of us has ever managed to achieve the levels of dedication shown by this grandma.
Shared by Super Rare Games boss George Perkins, the tweet below shows a photograph of his grandma standing proudly next to her Wii Fit startup screen. As you can see, she's now reached her 3,949th day on the game, which works out as almost ten years and ten months.
George notes that she's played the game "every day" during that time, no doubt logging on to do the daily body test and some custom fitness routines or balance games along the way. We admire her dedication to the cause - our copies of Wii Fit tend to shout at us for being scarily absent when we log on these days - and it also goes to show how the game really does appeal to players outside of the stereotypical gaming world, just like Nintendo said it would. Lovely stuff.
Just last month, we also heard of a grandma clocking in over 3,500 hours on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Perhaps this trend is set to continue throughout 2019?
Do you still play Wii Fit? Or is your balance board now long forgotten in the attic? Let us know in the comments below.

When will we hear from the grandma who plays Pure / Electric Love every day?
If I remember correctly the days counts from the start, not only the days you've been active. Would be interesting to see how many hours she put in it instead.
I used my wii fit board occasionally until I bought a scale this christmas (sorry wii fit...)
I say "good for her!"
slow news day?
10 years!!??..she should look like the rock by now lol.
So does she bring her Wii on vacation?
The only way to achieve immortality.
OMG!!
Next Grandma, has been playing Pokemon X / Y 3DS for more than 3,600 hours.
BTW, we will wait Another Next Grandma who has been playing Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee for more than 3,500 hours 4 years from now. 😆
Someone buy this lady Wii Fit U already!
His grandma hasn't spent more than a day away from her own home in 10 years? :-/
I don't think she has touched it for days, there should be a graph going on in the background
@boatie That’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying that she’s made a point to log in every day.
Awesome, keeps you young. I used to walk when I had the Mario and sonic Rio 2016 Olympics marathon and it felt like they were all cheering me on. Difficulty did spike so I got bored of it.
As I get older I find it more and more important to exercise regularly, and I can barely force myself to work out three or four times a week, so good for her.
That screen only counts the days since you started playing. Let's see her Fit Bank or graphs.
You gotta boost these numbers guys. The mom of a friend of mine has been playing AC New Leaf for 5595 hours.
Huh, a video game activity log? What a novel idea! If only the Switch kept track of our playtime too... Oh wait, it does! Just like the Wii, 3DS and Wii U before it! Only there is no app to view that information! Because... I don't know, I can't even think of a sarcastic reason. Because turtles. There.
Kudos to this lady. That's some serious commitment.
@Sunanootoko My mom had to have played New Leaf for at least a few thousand hours herself. Not sure what it is about moms and that game...
Total gilf. Keeping it real.
Great! Keep it going
@MH4 You have been on the computer too much, "log in."
You don't "log in" the Wii XD
That is one big TV. Also I will always facepalm to the people who always thinks Consoles break down easier then PCs/laptops, etc. Still got my 10 year old Wii! (they were just unlucky if it breaks down in like 3 years or so.)
@Heavyarms55 "Huh, a video game activity log? What a novel idea! If only the Switch kept track of our playtime too... Oh wait, it does! Just like the Wii, 3DS and Wii U before it! Only there is no app to view that information!".
There is, Switch Parental Control. It's tracks your gaming activities and gives you a monthly summary. I find the app misnamed because it's so much more useful than just parental control.
@IceEarthGuard Heck, you’re not wrong. 😅
@Ralizah Animal Crossing and Dr. Mario - moms’ gaming addictions.
I gotta admire her dedication! Hopefully I'm as spry when I'm that age.
I made a joke about this with one of my friends yesterday about anyone still using the original wii fit everyday to work out.
Huh. Neat.
Next there'll be a guy who's played Mario Bros for 30 years.
@Sunanootoko Daaaaaaaaamn, this should be making headlines!
I gotta write Alex
@puddinggirl I wasn’t aware of this. Thanks!
Unfortunately, I never got into the Wii Fit trend. I do like some good exercise though.
lol and even she couldn't be bothered with upgrading to Wii Fit U and the Wii U. God Nintendo struck out so bad with that console.
@SMW
Well she hasn't done the body test for the two weeks prior to that photo being taken, otherwise there would be a graph going on in the screenshot there.
The question is, how fit is she? I wanna see this lady on Survivor.
We need Switch Fit on the Switch.
Play on the go!
My grandma grooms her sausage dog every day.
That generation just musters more dedication than we ever will.
