Last week, during the Nintendo Direct Presentation, we got an update on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for the Switch. The team has been hard at work and the game is now expected to arrive this summer.
After ongoing requests from fans, the official Bloodstained Twitter account has now revealed the final box art for the game, which has been painted by Artplay's Mana Ikeda. Take a look below:
If you haven't really kept tabs on this upcoming release, here's some information about it from Nintendo's PR:
The side-scrolling action of yore rises once again inBloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Play as Miriam, host of the Alchemist’s Curse, as she steals the abilities of enemies, bends gravity to her will and darts around the game’s elaborate castle at lightning speed. Here, the laws of reality – and 2D side-scrollers – don’t apply. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night emerges from the shadows this summer for Nintendo Switch.
Be sure to also check out the latest trailer at the top of the page.
Are you looking forward to this? What do you think of this box art? Tell us down below.

That's really nice! So this will get a physical release? I sure hope so!
@Quarth Yes. But that has always been the case. See the kickstarter page for the $60 pledge:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iga/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night
Can't wait to add it to my collection!
Don't worry I am sure that art will be censored in some way shape or form upon heading West
@FragRed The half-boob? Actually it is not even half. More like 75% boob.
cant wait to get this for my switch.
@Fuz it's like, totally heteronormative and also sexist because the girl is pretty, man.
Looks neat but I’m just hoping the game delivers on its promises and good intentions.
After previous Kickstarters like Yooka-laylee and mighty no.9 getting mixed responses I was sceptical of Bloodstained, however after playing through curse of the moon recently it will be a day 1 buy for me! Very excited to have a true spiritual successor to Castlevania after all these years!
@sanderev that is quite confusing, it doesn't even mention the switch, it still says the Wii U. Will the game have a normal physical release?
It looks really clunky to me
Yeah this looks awesome. Can’t speak for the gameplay but so far the aesthetic and the soundtrack are fantastic. The people who bash the game because the artwork is different from SOTN, need to look at the attention to detail in the trailer. The characters, particle effects, and lighting look amazing and really bring this style of game into the current gen.
@NintenDan_ curse of the moon and this version bloodstained are two separate beasts. Different mechanics, physics, movements, etc. As it stands now, it looks clunky and almost lifeless. I would much rather have the 32 bit graphics a la Symphony of The Night or the GBA Castlevania visuals and aesthetics. I could be wrong, the game could be a treat but I don’t know; the whole thing looks a touch sloppy to me...
I'll buy the box and skip the game.
@NintenDan_ Curse of the Moon was developed by Inti Creates, though; not the same studio
Absolutely gorgeous.
Is this by the same artist who did the cover art for Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP? Seems to be the same brand of gothic beauty.
Beautiful but, Cheer up love – it might never happen. She looks less sultry and more like grumpy teen.
That in game shot looks really rough though – his hand around her just doesn't look at all artistically right - bad anatomy I mean.
@Old-Red The game was originally planned for the Wii U, but seeing the Wii U fail and the Switch being released they switched (lol) to the Switch from the Wii U.
This included physical versions of the game.
Really torn on spending extra for a Switch copy for the great boxart and handheld gameplay. This is the type of title I rather play at 4k60fps on my pc.
Looks great but not sure about the crafting, don’t like all that nonsense. Just give me power ups on the way old Castlevania style.
Love curse of the moon though, thats a great take on the Vania series.
The game looks great. I can't wait to get it.
5+ years in the making. That was short with all delays and restarting kickstarter to get more money and then doing a late extra extended funding kickstarter. There comes a point in time when even Supporters on Kickstarters patience starts to run thin. Now if others points to BoTW that is different they are a self running Company with the funding to do this and get it out and sell like crazy and still be in the TOP listings of selling software 2+ years going.
It's almost too bad I kickstarted the digital version for my PS4, though maybe once it goes down in price I could think about double dipping for a physical switch version down the line. Though with kickstarter there has been such mixed results on game success, I am pretty hopeful for this one.
That looks really nice. Not willing to pay through the nose for a physical release, though. Maybe this artwork will get turned into a poster or something I can frame in my house someday.
Looks pretty good until you get to the somewhat ridiculous boob tattoo.
I'm digging that art. I've been mildly curious about this one ever since it hit Kickstarter. I think I'll wait for some reviews/feedback before making my final decision however.
@sanderev But that's just for the backers, right?
a bit empty but good
Gives me serious Ayame Kojima vibes. This box art reminds me so much of Lament of Innocence's box art.
I hope this gets a physical release outside of those who pledged $60 and above for the Kickstarter
boxart is great, but I still think the game itself is hideous – just my opinion tho
@Zuljaras I think you need glasses if you think that is 75% showing of the boob XD
@IceEarthGuard Ok how about 60%?
@Baart What??? You make no sense at all....
@Zuljaras More like 30% or less.......
Edit: Or more like between 25-35%
@IceEarthGuard Come on we do not count the whole tattoo!
Ah I see now!
We misunderstood each other. It is my fault!
I was talking that 75% of the boob is covered.
Sorry my mistake!
@VHSGLITCH you need tomwatch the Direct trailer again because it looks anything but clunky. Lifeless? Perhaps though not to me, but clunky? No way.
Looks fantastic. I hope the slip case that comes with the backer copy looks just as good.
I like it, I think I’ll end up getting this on Switch.
@Baart ?????
@FragRed Yes... but only the PS4 version.
@Zuljaras Oh, okay thanks for clarification.
Loved Curse of the Moon and I cant wait to play this
@Kmno clunky, unpolished and completely mediocre.
"If you haven't really kept tabs on this upcoming release"
Poor souls have been missing out. Bloodstained is going to be a gem, and I am so hyped for my physical edition to arrive in the mail with that beautiful slipcover.
Like it so much it's my phone's wallpaper. 😁
@LinkSword No, that was Ayami Kojima - the character designer for Symphony of the Night through Curse of Darkness. This is by an artist named Mana Ikeda, but it's definitely an homage to the legendary Symphony of the Night artwork.
