Loading up your copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate today will present you with a new message indicating that Version 2.0.0 is on the way. As always, this means you'll need to get your favourite replay videos saved and exported.
Just like with the 1.2.0 update last month, this update will wipe any of the replays you have saved in the game. Instructions on how to save your favourite videos are included in the message; we captured a screenshot for you down below.
The specific contents of the 2.0.0 update have not been revealed, although the change to version '2' rather than a smaller jump suggests that this will be bigger than your average update. We already know that the first DLC character, Piranha Plant, is set to arrive "around" February, so chances are that the character's data will be pumped into the game with this update.
Speaking of Piranha Plant, you only have a few days remaining to claim the character for free. If you need help with this, make sure to read up on it here.

Maybe but it would be an update for the other characters/items as well if it is going to wipe out replays.
Or did they wipe out replays for just adding characters on Wii U?

Considering all the fun "glitches" this site has showcased I'm thinking "bug fixes and stability" will about cover it.
Maybe they'll force all special attacks to be performed with motion when the Switch is docked like Pokémon Let's Go. 😝

Hopefully this update will consist of more than just balance patches and DLC stuff.
I don't use the replay feature regularly, just never found a need to since I mostly play alone or online with my friend. I didn't even use it on Smash Bros. for Wii U. Now, bring on that Piranha Plant! All ready to go with that character.
Online battles NEED to be fixed. I don't think I played one match yesterday that didn't include lag.
Not expecting too much aside from Piranha Plant and some character changes honestly. But it'd be nice if they fixed the alternate costume issue on the select screen at least (meaning improving the loading time for them).

I better save those replays. This always bugged me with Smash Wii U/3DS but I’m glad there’s an option to convert the replays to videos in this one.
I'm confused on the replays. So, if you do the "thing" in the vault, you can effectively save them or no? And I saw someone mention keeping replays per the photo capture button, but the problem is it's only going to capture 30 seconds. Can anyone better explain the in-game replay system?
I'm honestly more interested in balance changes thanks Piranha Plant right now. WHO will get buffed? WHO will get nerfed?

@BlakeMorris peronally i hope they make it so all the sorting lists have all the sorting options. i hate that i can't sort by level when picking a spirit and the lack of being able to sort by date acquired when learning styles was also a pain
How do you save them? Do you just mean convert to video, or will that still be wiped? Is there a way to get them into the Switch photo album, or even take them off the Switch?
