GameMill Entertainment has announced a partnership with NBC and Universal's Games team to bring American Ninja Warrior Challenge to Nintendo Switch - a game based on NBC's hit television show.
As our North American friends will no doubt already be aware, the show has contestants competing on various obstacle courses, aiming to make it all the way to the end and enthusiastically throw themselves on to a giant button. As you do. This game is said to feature fan-favourite obstacle courses from the show, while hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila provide commentary.
Players can test their skills with friends and family in the game's couch multi-player mode, or you can choose to take on a challenging career mode to train and compete all the way to Mt. Midoriyama. Tim Flaherty, Partner at GameMill Entertainment, has said the following in a press release:
"American Ninja Warrior has continuously grown in popularity over the past 10 seasons and we are thrilled to partner with NBCUniversal to bring fans an authentic and action-packed American Ninja Warrior experience on gaming consoles for the first time. We are excited to unveil the many challenging and fun features in the coming months, which are designed to allow players to step into the shoes of their very own American Ninja Warrior competitor."
American Ninja Warrior Challenge launches on 19th March on Switch and other leading platforms; pricing has still yet to be revealed.

I need bad words to voice my opinion about this trailer.
Games based on TV Show or Takeshi Castle style ?
I wish newest America's Next Top Model also on Nintendo Switch, not just only on smartphone.
I've watched about 3 or 4 episodes a few years ago, & liked what I saw. This game pales in comparison, but I'll still get it when it's marked down to at least 50% off.
@Anti-Matter so “Takeshi’s Castle” aired as Ninja Warrior over here in the states so the answer is both
OK, this look absolutely ridiculous... but... uh... I might have to check out.
The show is stupid but addictive af.
The clickbait show of the century is now coming to Switch? Meh I'll wait for the real Ninja Warriors on Switch.
Might be a nice time waster if the price is right.
Why the terrible graphics? This is 2019 people, technology is way better than it was 7 years ago.
If it's like the wipeout games, i'm down for that.
I wouldn't call the button "giant". It's certainly bigger than the face buttons on the Switch, but calling it "giant" makes it sound like the whole person has to stand on it to press it
Not for me.
@MysticGengar That was exactly what I thought when I saw it.
Brining clunky animation to a whole new level!
Hmm...well, since Wipeout is no longer on television (shame), it's nice to have something else like it! I'll be getting this, but won't pay a lot for it!
What's the point without the real humans?
I don't mind the TV programme (assuming it's the same as the one we get here in the UK) but I really don't see how it would work as a video game
Can't really see how this would translate into a full fledged video game. I like watching the show and love the Japanese original but doubt I will get this
Looks similar to the Wipeout games or Doritos Crash Course.
@adh56 Actually, Ninja Warrior is based off of Sasuke. Takeshi's Castle made its way to the states via MXC (Most Extreme Challenge) for 5 seasons in the early 2000's as a dubbed over spoof. I miss MXC, those out of context dubs made it absolutely hilarious.
@Racthet916 Yeah that’s the one I was thinking of. I remember the dubs, I think it aired on SpikeTV
I want my 1 minute back from watching that trailer
Why are all the buff dudes in shirts? Literally the best part of ANW is watching all the shiny shirtless dudes stretch and strain and pull and sometimes hug. (Seriously ANW is just a gateway to UFC and UFC is a gateway to a great Friday night.)
I know someone who is a friend to a contestant of this game show and he manage to get into the top 50.
@Der : The game is exclusive to the US market, so I assume that the game was budgeted accordingly.
I remember back when ninjas looked like members of isis.
I'm not sure how this is going to be on the Switch, but, a game like the show would be a lot better in VR.
I just don't see a cheaply made licensed game like this being anything other than shovelware. Might be worth it to hardcore collectors and for a bargain bin laugh, but not exactly something you'd get to actually enjoy.
