Mega Man fans sure have their plates full this year, as Capcom is releasing not one but two retro collections of classic titles - and both are Switch-bound.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will, between them, span the entire X sub-series, and will also come with a selection of bonus features, such as an art gallery and Challenge Mode. You can see some of these elements in the video above.

Looks fun. My experience with Mega Man games usually ends with me too frustrated with the difficulty to finish it though.
Okay, fine, take my money.
Can't wait!!
Looks super fun! Can’t wait for this! I’ve only ever played Mega Man X.
Currently playing through MegaMan x2 on my analogue super nt, and loving it, can't wait for this release to play the entire collection!
What are the PV videos? Looked like regualr gameplay to me. Nice to see the OVA on here. I bought the PSP version on my PSTV and enjoyed it that way a few years back. I wonder if the Switch version will use the Mega Man amiibo. Can’t wait to have all four Legacy Collections on my Switch. OMGOMGOMG. Lol. I need to hurry back and beat the Gunvolt stuff (Mighty thoroughly beaten aside from DLC, got the cart of the Striker pack... needs more love.) before I get bombarded!
Might get it as a bundle
So, do I understand it correctly that there will be two Mega Man Legacy Collection bundles and two Mega Man X Legacy Collection bundles. I'm so confused...
My main goal is to play and beat X7 and X8, though this challenge mode feels like a nice diversion-- It may even persuade me to get Collection 1 though I've had my fill of those games.
@OnBeingHuman 5 was probably the best one. And X was amazing
@Vriess: Yes, 2 Collections for each series. The Classic series gets 2, & the X series gets 2.
@Vriess don’t be, that’s just Capcom being poor a**holes and trying to squeeze their neglected mascot for as much money as they can.
They’ve been on a downward spiral for some years and it seems they haven’t understood that you need to produce good games to stay afloat.
Can you turn off those pop up text boxes in X5? Probably asking too much.
Can't wait for these. Probably passing on the originals as I have them 2 other places, but X is an instant buy.
Love the X series(mainly the first 3) they are my favourite megaman! **insert eggplant emoji for suggestive context***
@Kmno There are a number of recent examples countering your statement, but I'll just leave it at Monster Hunter World, which only sold better than any game they've released ever.
@Vriess back in my day they had 1 collection and it had all the damn games. But somehow they cut a rerelease in half, charge double for 1 physical copy and 1 download code, and people are all shut up and take my money. No wonder Capcom still makes money despite screwups and ripoffs. Hell, throw in cannon spike as megaman was playable. But nope.
@Vriess Yup, gotta milk the Mega-Man cash cow as much as possible. They could have easily released all these games in one collection, but then they'd not make as much money.
My OCD is telling me DONT YOU DARE PUT 4 SEPARATE ICONS ON YOUR HOMESCREEN but my eyes are going THOSE SHADES OF BLUE AND YELLOW WILL LOOK NICE WITH THAT THEME
Kind of wish it was all in one package 😐
I'm all over the x collection on Switch, at the very least just to play X6, X7, and X8 again.
That person playing the game so bad that it's making me cringe.
I bought Resident Evil despite the download code, but I’m not doing that again. I didn’t realize that was going to be the M.O. for every Capcom release. It seems like they’re only doing this to combat resale.
How many times do they expect us to buy them exactly?
@H_Hunter Every time a new platform appears. Followed by Skyrim.
Are they serious about X collection 2? Does any one care about those games?
I can't seem to find this info, but I thought I read it somewhere: the X collection will also come in physical for the first four games and digital for the last four? Or is this time coming the right way, each four in physical form? Well, the right way would be all 8 together in one card, but you know, what I'm saying would be an improvement over the classic ones.
@Moroboshi876 Outside of Japan, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 can be purchased physically or digital, while X Legacy Collection 2 will be digital-only. This goes for whether you bought both games separately or together in a bundle.
In Japan, however, Rockman X Anniversary Collection 2 can be purchased by itself either digitally or physically. If you opt for the bundle including both games, though, you will only receive the digital version of the second collection. Keep this in mind, because according to a few people, you can change the language to English even in the Japanese version.
@Linker2A03 It pisses me off, but it's starting to be classic Capcom move on Switch. Well, I guess I'll look at the price and decide, but most probably the retail (+ code for the second) will come home when the price drops, and being third-party this is going to happen sooner or later. Good thing I have an SD card now (and actually I haven't started using it yet).
