THQ Nordic has been quite supportive of the Switch in its early days, opting to target the budget retail space with releases like Sine Mora EX. Next in line is This is the Police - confirmed during the Summer, it now has firm release details.
Confirming that it has an M rating from ESRB, it's been announced that it'll arrive on the eShop on 24th October and at retail on 5th December.
This is the Police is a strategy and adventure game set in the crime-ridden city of Freeburg. You assume the role of Police Chief Jack Boyd - voiced by Jon St. John (Duke Nukem) - and have to tackle a wide range of crimes, assigning officers to certain jobs and facing numerous moral dilemmas along the way. The ultimate aim is to raise $500,000 in 180 days, but you can choose to do that in any way you wish.
So, are you planning to pick this up?

I am now!
Just beat me to it. Here's the UK boxart.

They also mention in the Press Release that "This is the Police is THQ Nordic's second M-rated (ESRB) Nintendo Switch™ title, and overall Nintendo Switch's 5th title to receive such a rating."
There haven't been many Mature games on Switch so far.
I'm not sure yet if this game is for me. I like the idea of it but then I watch footage and am put off. Just not sure it's my kind of thing. I'll take a wait and see approach. If it reviews well then no doubt I'll end up buying it. I can't help myself when it comes to Switch.
I want darksiders 1& 2 from thq noridc for switch !!!!
So long as the game isn't crap, I'm all over this! This looks awesome, and the sort of experience that I want to see more of from Switch!
This was a really emotional game for me on PC. The story sticks with you for a long time, and it's the game I've discussed the most with my friends. The opening nearly put me off- I prefer to avoid sexual themes in videogames and it has a cinematic in a strip club in the intro - but I didn't hit any sexual content in the actual game itself. The tone is very dark and mature, dealing with government and police corruption and trying to appease the mafia and civil authorities just enough to do some good along the way.
It was haunting, really.
Day 1 physical for me.
So close to MO's arrival, bad timing, won't do well.
Going to pick up physical copy for sure.
@Shiryu two! But only the physical release.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Because it's a kiddie system as usual
I'm in!
Fantastic! This is most definitely going on the list. I've wanted to play this for a while.
That is one hideous graphic style. I’m usually all over minimalism, but this just looks bad. The box art especially looks like it was made in MS Paint. I have a degree in illustration, so my opinion matters, right? And don’t get my started on how boring the typeface is.
That said, more support the better. I just won’t be buying it. I do like the idea of a cop game, though.
@flightsaber How much is it on pc? Because I expect the usual 30€ crap here
A unique award-winning, addicting police simulation, coming to retail on Switch! Count me in.
I just got Sine Mora EX, and now THQ Nordic throws a second one I just can't miss. Day One.
@justin233 I agree on the boxart.
Strange looking game... hope it's good.
I can never get into games with the Moral Dilemma mechanic, but it's cool that something of this nature is coming to the Switch at all.
This looks really good, I'll get it when it comes out at retail.
@SuperCharlie78 I'd go gog.com . They match US prices 1 to 1 in euros. So expect 15 EU.
@TossedLlama The Wire vibes are precisely what makes me want this. I couldn't really put my finger on it until I read your comment.
I looking forward to this title so ill be definitely picking it up
I may be in the minority around here, but I like the art style.
I do think they should have released both versions in December however. MO is set to steal a LOT of people's time upon release this month.
Really excited for a review on this one...
oh man
by default im definitely gonna have to stay away from this game
I'll wait for revidws but this looks promising.
It looks great. This has been a "day one" buy for me since it was announced, and I was hoping that it would have come to the Wii U or even the 3DS when it launched on the other systems back when. Since there's a month and half delay for the physical release, then I'll be waiting for that instead. This has been one of my most anticipated games, and even more so since I've been doing some police work (nothing as exciting/involved as what is being portrayed in this game) since the launch of the Switch.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE This is not the UK box art. This is the European box art.
That music!!! Drum ’n’ bass!!!
@tonyp1987 At least give us 3, but yeah the HD remastered games in a bundle would be nice!
What I really want to see is touchscreen support. This is mix of city management and point-and-click adventure, and it would be a shame if mouse controls were locked to analogue sticks.
