Topic: What is your honest opinion of Nyx Quest?

I've been thinking of getting it for a while but some things worry me. I hear the music is pretty much the same through the whole game and the areas are very repetitive. Nothing but endless deserts. I've also heard the final boss is pretty lame and frustrating. I usually like more variety in my games. Am I just going to end up let down by this game or is it really the masterpiece some say it is?

It's not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a good single play game non-the-less.

The graphics are nice enough that you won't mind the repetition and to be honest, the music is so inoffensive you'll hardly notice it whilst you play. The possible exception are the basic enemy graphics (and hydra) which are just black silhouettes and look rather ugly against the desert themed world.

The best part of the game is definitely the game play, which is moderately challenging and fairly long-lived. If I had to compare this to LostWinds I'd say it's a little better thought out (certainly a lot less convoluted) when it comes to its puzzles, but like LW, I doubt you'd want to come back to the game unless you're a compulsive completionist. The enemies and bosses in the game are indeed quite dull (not just visually but also in terms of challenge) but they offer a break from the puzzle solving so I guess they're not a complete waste of time.

Basically, if you liked LostWinds, I'd suggest buying NxyQuest. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of LostWinds and found NyxQuest a bit more fun but not much. I have tried going back to both (or more precisely, all three) games and still find the original LostWinds to be the most re-playable. I personally find some of LostWinds 2's puzzles to be far too convoluted to warrant the effort and NyxQuest simply doesn't offer much incentive for replay because once you know how to solve the puzzles the early levels almost feel like a drag. If you do want to replay NyxQuest it's much better to just replay the levels you want to rather than starting all over again from the beginning.

If you are expecting a masterpiece, you will be disappointed. I enjoyed the game very much, especially in those moments where you are juggling different control mechanics at the same time, it feels very very nice. Personally I could never get over how much of a Lostwinds rip it was, it was quite shameless in fact, but still a solid game, with nice visuals and lovely music.

Dude, it's a WiiWare game, they cost nowt, just grab it and make your own mind up.

Its an excellent wiiware title. It wouldn't be so if it were retail.

Its a great game with an wonderful graphics and nice soundtrack. If you like Lost Winds and Greek Mythology then go for it. Well worth the 1,000 points

Each level had enough variety to keep things fresh. The final boss was really non-existent but very easy to survive to till the end. The challenge comes from completeing the Arcadia level.

I hated the demo, so I'm keeping away, but I'd guess it really depends on your tastes. The main problem for me was that I hate the style of visuals and themes, and the gameplay in the demo didn't quite make up for that.

Personally, this is my fave Wiiware title to date.

I own 31 WiiWare games and this is definitely one of my favourites. Much better than LostWinds IMO (haven't played the sequel yet, though).

I liked this MUCH better than Lost Winds. The graphics are gorgeous, the music is soft and calm, and the gameplay is very, very fun, especially if you love puzzle/platformers. It does get a little repetitive at times but the final three to four levels are so action packed that that is the part of the game that really made it one of WiiWare's best. And it's only $10, so if you're a fan of the genre, this is a must-buy. Very cheap and definitely worth the money.

now, granted, i've only played the demo, but i thought that was really good. the controls seemed well implemented and i liked the idea behind it. i would just worry about the game being too short, since that's what i've heard.

It took me 7 hours to finish it. THat includes the bonus level Arcadia and collecting all 20 relics

That is about the same time it took me to finish Lost Winds WOTM with all of the idols.

Love the game and as some people have said the controls are great and uses the Wiimote well. I honestly thought this game was much better than LostWinds.

I have the demo. The gameplay is great, but the visuals are incredibly drab, and the music is a bit lame. But since gameplay>everything else, I can see myself downloading this eventually.

Definitely one of the better Wiiware games. The enviornments may seem repetitive but the gameplay definitely isn't, you keep gaining new abilities throughout the game that help keep things fresh.

I only played the demo... but it made me think twice before buying... I found it to be very similar to Lost Winds in play style, which isn't a problem, but it didn't bring anything new to the table either. At least from the mechanics introduced in the demo, it felt like Lost Winds with less interesting visuals... Maybe I will buy it sometime to see if it gets more interesting... but since I already have Lost Winds... Its not a high priority.
