I'm trying to decide between these 2. Megaman was one of my favorite type NES game back in the day. I also like Final fantasy, but haven't played 4 yet and may not very soon. I also like a good story. How do you all feel about these games? How many hours do they have too?
Mega Man 9 is brilliant. If you loved any Mega Man game, you should like this one. If you download the Endless mode, that's a lot more fun to be had, too. Not to mention Proto Man and Hard Mode.
I haven't played After Years, but I've heard absolutely no complaints about it, so it must be good. I'll probably get it eventually myself, but I have other RPGs I want to play first.
I'm worried they'll make afteryears into a detail game someday. Then it will eventually go down in price. of course in getting here I don't have to wait too long and can buy it all in installments, so to speak/
I haven't played those but i have played final fantasy 4 and various megaman games. i say you get final fantasy 4: the after years because megaman 9 looks a lot similar to megaman 1, 2, and 3 so you could just get one of those for a fraction of the price

I've played Mega Man 9, and if you were any fan of it back in the day then you should definitely give it a shot. Capcom did their best to make it feel like a classic Mega Man title.
If you like it you should also pick up the Proto Man mode. The little changes between Mega and Proto really change the way you play the game. And we need to tell Capcom that Proto needs his own game!
Unfortunately, I haven't played the After Years. I don't have the money to get it yet. I love Final Fantasy IV; it's been the first FF I've really enjoyed, and I really want to try the After Years out sometime. I doubt you'd be wasting points if you get it, though. IMO, there's nothing better in the world than a SNES-era RPG.

My vote goes to Mega Man 9. I know that the Final Fantasy series is very good, but I have just always been a bigger 2-D side-scroller/Mega Man fan. MM9 has some good DLC as well, my favorite is the Endless Stage. I think whichever you choose, you will get a quality title. However, be cautious, I hear a drawback to FF4:The After Years, is that the main game is short, and you have to buy additional side stories to get more story.

You REALLY should play FFIV before taking on The After Years. The original is needed to truly appreciate the sequal. Plus, several plot points in TAY assume that you have played the original.
Go get MM9 and after you finish that WiiWare godsend, get a copy FFIV for lands sake!

I have both of these games and they are both great games! If I had to choose just one it would have to be Mega Man 9. It is definitely one of the best games in the series and should not be missed if you are a fan of Mega Man. I would recommend playing Final Fantasy IV before getting The After Years. It is not required to play the game but trust me, the story is a whole lot better when you come to know the characters and events in the original. The After Years is also short if you only buy the first chapter and you will have to purchase the other chapters to get the entire story. This does get a little pricey, so you need to ask yourself just how much you like Final Fantasy. I bought The After Years because I am a big fan of FF IV, so you may want see if you like that one before you decide to invest in The After Years. Mega Man 9 is the better value and it's a full game too so I would just go with Mega Man if I were you!
If you want them with all DLC, be sure to have enough points.
MEGA MAN 9 - 1000 Wii Points + 800 Wii Points DLC = 1800 Wii Points total for the complete game. THE AFTER YEARS - 800 Wii Points + 2900 Wii Points DLC = 3700 Wii Points total for the complete game.
