Hey all, I was figuring since Bit.Trip Beat's sequel was being hinted at a while, I would link to this at the first sign of an announcement.

Well, here it is: http://www.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/bittripcore/news.html?sid=...

Gamespot got a hands-on of the second game in the series: Bit.Trip Core, and from the videos, man it looks a lot harder. I hope they aren't as evil in regards to Game Overs and the like, but I have a feeling they will be. Anyways, the game will be out during the summer, so be prepared!

Wow, that looks awesome.

It's... it's... beautiful! I'm so relieved that they are keeping the same graphical style. That teaser image released a few days ago worried me that they were going 3D (crosses self).
The lack of analog control seems a bit disappointing. That was a big part of what made Beat so fun... and so difficult. I have no doubt that this will be amazing and absolutely worth it, but it does seem like an odd choice to go with such a limited control scheme. Can't wait to see how they make that work!
Is this based on a particular retro game? Beat was clearly inspired by Pong. Anyway have an idea of where Core comes from?

So, i'm guessing the Bit.Trip series will mix a different genre with rhythm gameplay in each installment? If that's the case, can't wait to see the platformer genre.

Regarding it being harder, Alex (the programmer) said a few times that he thinks this game will be significantly easier. Then again, he also said he might not be trustworthy on that.

THANKS FOR THIS!

Just watched it.

Oh mannn. I love this. One thing I like is that the music doesn't stop when you reach the nether zone. It's scaled back, but you still have a beat, which helps you to keep the rhythm and get back on track. I think that's a good thing.

Commander Video, I salute you.

Alex is the designer, not the pogrammer. I believe Chris is the programmer. And we're pretty excited about Bit.Trip Core as well.

Hey Chris, great job on Bit.Trip CORE. Looks fantastic. Can't wait to give it a go.

For sure! I can't wait til we get more gameplay videos out there. The Gamespot ones give a taste for the mechanic, but not for the variety. Since we had a solid base to work with (i.e. BEAT) you'll find that everything is much tighter all around. Alright... wipes brow now onto the next one...

I wasn't expecting this so soon! I just saw the videos and this game looks amazing! Looks like another definite download for me!

Looks amazing. Day one purchase for me.
But when do you think this bad boy will be released?

This looks great! I wonder... is this series going to act like Art Style with retro graphics? If this is true, that would be fantastic! I might have to change my top 10 list to incorporate this game, but it deserves to be anticipated.

@DaVeMaN99- If my memory is correct, the last one was really quick to develop (4 months, if I'm not mistaken), so I wouldn't be surprised if this game is released towards the end of the summer.

Currently playing: Wii Sports Resort, A Boy and his Blob, New Super Mario Bros
Currently waiting for: Fragile, Tatsunuko vs. Capcom
Just beaten: Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Ugh, no way I'm buying that. I don't like rythm games at all. BTB at least seems (haven't bought it yet, got too many games at once and am still busy giving them at least one try each) like it doesn't require ME to have the rythm, just whoever places the projectiles and all I do is move the paddle to catch them but in this I'd have to follow the rythm (unless holding down 2 is an option). I think I can only follow one icon as it approaches the target position, if too many come at once I can't look at all of them before they pass it and then I can just rapidly whack the buttons as I spot the corresponding icons. In high adrenaline mode I stop listening to the music and my perception of time changes so the mental metronome changes to a different frequency, becoming useless. At that point it turns into target shooting with immobile crosshairs.

Isn't it pretty damn hard to focus at all four edges of the screen at the same time? I don't think the human eye can cover that much with its high detail area.

Raincoat whore!

The World Ends With You had players focus on two entire screens at once, and it was humanly possible for me. Focusing on one screen should be fine.

And Bit Trip Beat is deceptively simplistic. I thought the same but bought it on a whim, and wow is it challenging and fun. I'm confident this one will be the same (from the video, it doesn't look like you can just hold down 2, either).
