Topic: Why hasn't Donkey Kong 64 came out on Virtual Console

Don't say it's because of rare because it is not. 3 DK games has made it to VC so why hasn't this

DK is a Nintendo property obviously so you know it has to come eventually. The problem could be the Jetpack game. It belongs to Rare. It's required to play it to get the Rareware coin to unlock the final area. Jetpack and the Rareware coin might have to be changed or removed completely. Other than that I have no idea why it's not on VC.

What is the Jet pack and does the expansion pack affect it coming to VC

You complete Jetpac and you get a Gold Banana. You beat it again and you can play Jetpac from the secrets menu. Perhaps they could remove both arcade machines and leave two Gold Bananas lying where they were for you to collect.

Maybe they could replace Jetpac with the arcade Donkey Kong Jr. or something else from Nintendo.

The expansion pack is not an issue. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask requires it, and it's on VC already. No problem here.

If they removed Jetpac, it would make troubles for collecting the Rare coin.

They could fix these issues easily, they're just too lazy to do anything about it. I honestly don't have a clue what's keeping them to release games like this and Yoshi's Island. I Guess they just don't want more money from them.

But the only reason to collect the Rare Coin is to freely play Jetpac!

Because they haven't released it yet. Be patient G-ddamn it. You can't expect them to release all their best games all at once.

Why isn't banjo kazooie out? Same reason DK 64 isnt.

Banjo Kazooie is out on the XBLA and that because Banjo Kazooie is 100% totally Rare property which as stated above is now Microsoft property. Thats means characters, level designs etc are all owned by MS. DK 64 is a little different where as the characters are Nintendo property, so its both Nintendo and MS property.

You are correct, but the Jetpac game is also 100% owned by rare. And if they release this, then they shouldn't have released Donkey Kong (NES).
And wasn't Banjo in Diddy Kong racing? Thats not 100%!

Simple: Rare was bought out by Microsoft in 2002, and as such is now Nintendo's rival. They made DK64, Banjo-Kazooie, and Goldeneye, none of which have seen a VC release. They can't put the games on VC because they're Nintendo's rival.

But what doesn't make sense to me is that the DKC trilogy is out on the service, and Rare played a large part in developing those as well.

Three games developed by Rare have been released on Nintendo's Virtual Console service. They are the three Donkey Kong Country games originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System from 1994 to 1996. Rare stated on their website, "it's ultimately Nintendo's decision what gets released (on VC). Beyond the DKC games, Rare, don’t have anything in the pipeline at the moment, but that doesn't mean it won't happen in future."

Yes, they are rivals. Microsoft, Nintendo's rival, owns Rare, and as such becomes one of Nintendo's rivals.
