Topic: What is Nintendo doing?

A monster company, thousands of employees, tremendous income, etc, etc, etc. But what are they doing??? Just magnufacturing Wiis and putting them in white boxes? How many years has been the Wii on the market? How many Wii specific games has made Nintendo along all this time? From a company like that I would expect no less than twice the number of game tittles they actually have, all of them first class games and not just more tech demos like Wii Sports or WSR.

While my gut tells me to lock this, the entertainment side of me wants to let it continue on and spiral out of control.

First off, there are many who would argue Wii Sports Resort is light years ahead of a glorified tech demo, myself included, but I'll leave that to Adam and such.
Secondly, you try making a billion games that are awesome! When you compare many of their games to tech demos, I assume you're talking about the Wii series. They are a different breed, yes, but even the most 'hardcore' gamer (whatever that is) should be able to enjoy the magic they've created with these game.
Finally, I am in no way the most qualified to tear apart your argument. I have friends in high places for that.

I could see it spiraling but honestly, 90% of the people here post regularly (made that figure up ) and as a general community here, aren't we sick to death of this discussion? It's the same every single time...just like the VC argument. I don't see it spiraling because I'd like to think it's old and tired and everyone here is sick to death of talking about it.

They are making games right now...(Zelda Wii, Mario Galaxy 2, Pikmin 3, Other M, miyamoto and reggie even hinted at Kid Icarus.) Where have you been? To tell you the truth, they are doing alot better than Sony and Microsoft when it comes to first party exclusives.

It's a warped form of entertainment, but the best kind.

@Corbie: Yeah, and before it really gets out of control, another one shall be the one who locks it, I can guarentee you that.

SPECULATION ALERT:

Several months ago, several websites reported that Nintendo is spending millions (or hundreds of millions) on "Research & Development". This leads SOME to speculate that new hardware is being developed. /speculation

Concerning software, we all know the new titles that are coming from E3. Metroid Other M, SMBWii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Zelda Spirit Tracks, etc. Considering these are all AAA titles, it is an impressive lineup, and that's not even considering the software they haven't announced yet.

So Nintendo doesn't seem to be sitting counting their money at least.

And the calvary haveth arived.

I know, right? I developed like 10 awesome games just this morning, all of them million sellers. I guess Nintendo can't keep up.

No one has to speculate...Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have already been in the planning stages for new systems probably right around the release of the new systems. They're not new to this game.

The war is inevitable...do not attempt to stop.
