This is of course assuming that you're one of the millions of people that's going to be purchasing a Wii U. As near as I can tell, save for the fact that the Wii can play Gamecube discs, it offers nothing else that the Wii U can't duplicate(please correct me if i'm wrong here). However, simply trying to sell your old Wii for cheap creates an interesting and even troublesome situation. This being that MOST Wii U owners will want to keep the various accessories for use on their new Wii U's; ie, the Wiimotes, nunchucks, classic controllers, etc. But that then makes selling your Wii a more difficult proposition... Afterall, who wants to buy a used video game console on eBay(or wherever else...) without the necessary controllers?

What are you guys planning to do? I'm still at a loss myself...

I'm keeping my Wii. I just recently acquired a large stash of GC games, and I will need something to play them on.

I was originally going to keep my Wii, but I'll probably sell it at my Flea Market to get some money back since this is going to be the most money I spent in a while. I'll give my Gamecube games to my cousin since he has a GC compatible Wii with no plans to get a Wii U at the moment, I only still play GC games at his house anyways.

After I transfer my games and data I'll just toss it in the closet, and bring it out for nostalgia when I get old. ;)

I used to travel the stars, then I discovered Earth, and these incredibly addicting things called 'Video Games.'

I'll keep it. Consoles can still randomly fail sometimes y'know (this happened to my Wii and 360 within weeks of each other one time).

Depends on a few things. Will all my VC games transfer? If some won't I'll likely keep it. Will GC games actually appear on the WiiU VC, if not I'll keep it. There are too many unknowns to get rid of it right now. I may soft-mod it though, now that I don't have to worry about system updates.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Why don't you sell it then?
I find it very hard to believe that people spend tons of money on a console only to not use it at all.
It always baffles me how the majority of consumers are so bad with managing their spending habits.
That's not directed specifically at @zezhyrule, but just in general to all of the folks who say "my so-and-so is just collecting dust". You've got no one to blame but yourself.

I'll think of something...
