Quite possibly the best Double Dragon on the NES IMO. Double Dragon was ok but the fact that they took out the two player co-op mode stunk and Double Dragon III was just horrible.

I have been playing the cart of this lately and its still one of my favorite fighting games. The challenge is nice and if it is always to challenging for you, you can always do the 2 player B extra life trick. What do you guys think. Anyone picking this one up today?

"DD II: The Revenge," was one of only a few NES titles I owned as a child which I actually enjoyed playing. I was never able to progress past the end of the third level, but that didn't stop me from trying hundreds of times. I'd will really enjoy having another chance at besting this awesome retro brawler. I never knew about the extra life cheat, so that factor never played a beneficial role for me. This will definitely be added to my NES VC wishlist. I think this game would also be really awesome on the 3DS VC. I don't know exactly why, but I would love to try this out on a handheld.

Why the hate for Double Dragon III Tasuki? Sure its tough but its still fun and one heckuva double trouble challenge.

Why was it ok to fight some ladies in Double Dragon but not Final Fight?

I'm going to snag it on the VC and buy the NES cart, when the Optimus Prime-time is right.
As for double D III...Looks like they ditched that classic Double Dragon visual flavour and went a little more 8-bit realistic with the visuals. Looks different in comparison to the first 2. Based on bad word of Stinky Battletoads mouth, I'm not exactly screaming pop tarts over the inevitable DDIII VC release...Whoknows it may suprise me. I'll obviously give it a chance. And then there's Super Double Dragon...oOoOOOoOOooOo that's so much Double and so much dragon, i don't think my mega mits will beable to handle the Bimmy & jimmy Nintendo carnage!

@Waveboy: Here are a couple of positive reviews of Double Dragon III. I think these guys are like you and I who won't back down like a bunch of Williams from a good ole' NES challenge!

I got to get Super Double Dragon sometime soon. The truck music is pure gold plus two of the original NES classic tunes got the SNES treatmemt.

Dude, unless you are ridiculously awesome like the Wizard with his uncanny ability to dominate Double Dragon, you can never have to much Double Dragon. Plus, Double Dragon: Neon is coming soon!

Back on the Double Dragon II topic. I love knocking fools out of the helicopter!

@Ryno: After the greatness that was DDII DDIII just seem to fall short for me. For one thing the fact that it was hard as heck. And from what I can remember it just didnt feel like Double Dragon to me but than again that was when the game first game out I havent played it since.

It would be nice to see Super Double Dragon make it to the VC as that is my favorite Double Dragon of all time, and than of course I doubt we will ever see Battletoads/Double Dragon ever on the VC.

Double Dragon 2 was better than the first one because it had co-op, but I liked having all the moves in the first one, once you've leveled up all the way. DD2 is an awesome 2-player pick up and play game, though. It's challenging and doesn't take too long to beat, if you're able to beat it.

I was really hoping for this game to come out on the VC like 4 or 5 years ago. Now that it's out today, I'm not excited at all. I'm still going to buy it though, so I'l have it and to show my support for Double Dragon on a Nintendo console.

Wow, what timing! I just wrote the review for this game last night! I had to do some editing after seeing that it's finally been re-released on the Virtual Console. Man! Sure took them long enough. I love this game, you've got to buy it if you don't own it already.

Just downloaded this game today, it was one of my childhood favorites. I'm sure it's not gonna happen, but I'd love to see the PC Engine version of this game on the VC as well.

Battletoads are one of Rare's IPs, and Double Dragon is now owned by Aksys. There would definitely be some legal obstacles to getting Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team re-released. After Microsoft bought Rare, there was a lot of infighting every time they tried to make stuff for Nintendo's handhelds, so there's little reason for optimism. Crossovers are great but they create all sorts of problems as the years go by.

Its actually a fun game. It plays more like Battletoads more than Double Dragon but it still is fun and its nowhere near as hard as the first Battletoads game. If you do get this one I suggest getting the SNES version as it was the best out of all four of them.

I've waited so many years for this (after all, unless you're rich, you can only afford so many games), and so far it's proven well worth it! Only played through practice mode, but it definitely has the feel of the NES original published by Tradewest. The first mission feels like the first one in Double Dragon, but I love that you go up the ladders at the end. And a mission inside a helicopter? Love it. I find it interesting that they don't show Marian being murdered by Willy at the beginning, as was done in the arcade. First of all, because in the NES original, it showed Marian punched in the gut, AND included the infamous upskirt panty shot as she's taken away. So, wasn't about violence against women (just think of all the Lindas you beat up in DD). I'd say it's about the visual, fairly graphic death, with her riddled with machine gun bullets, but again citing the Lindas, you can throw knives at them at the original, not to mention baseball bats and drums. Anyone else find it intriguing that the arcade opening wasn't included? It sure would've given players added motive to kick butt to witness that!

Off the subject of DD II, I hope this leads to DD III. Not so much because I'm looking forward to it, as I've heard it's the weaker entry of the series, but because it gets us a step closer to Super Double Dragon IV! I wanted to buy it too circa 1992, but again, limited funds as always. The classic Double Dragon theme sounds incredible on SDD IV, and the gameplay looks great. Love to see it in the first days of the Wii U VC! In the mean time, Double Dragon Neon looks like a worthy remake. And it's done by the awesome Wayforward, which did justice to another macho men's game, Contra 4!

In closing, have some kick @$$ Double Dragon II: The Revenge title screen music! DAT TORN SKIRT!!!!!!!

By the way, where is our own @Bimmy_and_Jimmy? This is your thread, man! Well, the next game really will be, as it was the debut of Bimmy & Jimmy, ROTFLMAO.

They would probably fix the typo. They fixed typos and mistranslations in the Zelda 1 VC release. They might keep it in for the sake of nostalgia, though.

Hope they keep it. It'd be like changing "a winner is you" in Pro Wrestling. Wouldn't be the same afterward. LET BIMMY LIVE!!!
