Topic: My Wii stopped reading my disks!!!!

I can't believe it! My wii has worked fine for 2 years and now all of a sudden it won't read ANY disks. At first I thought it was only super smash bros, but then I tried excite bots(which I just recently bought) and it didn't work! It also didn't work on gamecube games either. And the games don't even show up in the disk channel. When I click on the disk channel, it says it doesn't recognize it. I'm assuming it has something to do with the disk sensor, because I cleaned my disks and that didnt do anything. So what should I do? Should I send it in? Or is there something that I can buy that cleans the sensor? Plz help!

This may sound really really stupid, but I am not trying to make fun of you. Are you sure that you do put the disc right way in the drive?

Same thing has happened to me. So now I will have to send it into Nintendo to get it fixed.

I rule when it comes to games. So deal with it.

I've had my year for 2 years, so I think my warranty has expired. I don't know if I have enough money to pay for it to be sent in. Are there any other options?

Well you can try the Wii optical drive cleaner which costs $10. I tried it unfortunately it did not work for me. It does cost $75 to send your Wii in for repairers, and unfortunately for me I do not have that money yet. Good luck with getting your Wii back up in operating condition.

oh 10$ sounds way better than 75$! Can I find that cleaning kit at any game selling store?

Hope you get your Wii drive working again, good luck.
I have to mention that one night I tried twice to put the disc wrong way to the drive (I was a bit drunk though)

I thought I would mention this, some games when I put them in they don't even show up on the disk channel. But some games will show up on the disk channel, but I when I press start it gives me an error code saying disk could not be read please eject. Does that mean anything?

Mines has done the same thing except now it won't read any disks. So you will most likely have to send your Wii in.

Dang it! I'll probably try the lens cleaner first just to try to save some money though. I sure hope that works

it might be because some of the newer wii games are double-layer discs (SSBB is one example), and if the wii's lens is dirty then it won't be able to read them.

just try the wii lens cleaning kit

Kizzi

@irken004: I am going to do that, and I hope it works! I don't want to have to send it in and pay 75$
