I'm replaying Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord for the first time since 2009 and I'm lovin' it! It is so hard to stop playing. "Just one more battle." Yeah, I know the price of the DLC is outrageous ($57 for all of it...Squeenix must be out of their minds). But the base game alone is a lot of fun.
It's a rock-paper-scissors tower defense game. Melee beats up on Ranged, Ranged beats up on Magic, Magic beats up on Melee. And generic and healers are thrown in for good measure. And you play a spoiled little princess. What more can you ask for in a game???
Let's put it this way, I very much doubt that I'll transfer any WiiWare games over to Wii U
I wasted too much money on games which, mostly, were no better than anything you can get on iOS for loose change...and I'm counting Excite Bike in there
That said, World of Goo was bloody good (and the only reason why I won't transfer it over is because it plays better on an iPad) and there were a few games that made me smile, like Bonsai Barber and that Mad Dog quick draw game.
I'll be glad to put this generation of WiiWare behind me, and hope the games improve on Wii U now file size limitations have been removed
Wow, I can't even imagine what thought process lead you to the conclusion that most Wiiware games aren't as good as a typical 99 cent iphone game. The average quality of those games is most similar to that of browser-based flash games, or homebrew games that can be downloaded free of charge. The Wiiware service on the other hand contains dozens of games that stand up to the best this generation has to offer in terms of downloadable software.
That's not what I said. I compared WiiWare to iOS, suggesting they were equal
My point is that WiiWare lacked any real substance, being mostly simple throw-away, indie scale fillers. There's nothing I would count as a 'favourite'
For me I have enjoyed Rage of the Gladiator a great deal, Max & the Magic Marker, and Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising. I have enjoyed A LOT of the demos for the service now, but I'm waiting until I hear about the Wii U eShop and how/if everything will transfer over before buying more.
