I recently acquired the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii U eShop because I wanted to enjoy great Metroid games.
Unfortunately, it seems that a Wiimote is required in order to play these games.
I naively thought the Wii U GamePad would work, but that's not the case.
It would have given me a reason to use it, for once.
So, I grudgingly decided to look for a Wiimote to buy online, and here is my problem.
There's a lot of different Wiimotes, with different shapes, different colors, different power supplies...
I am wondering which one should I get between all of them :
I never planned on buying a non-official Nintendo product.
I didn't even realize that some of them were from a different group.
Thank you for your answers.
One last thing, is there an existing official Nintendo Wiimote that uses rechargeable batteries with a dock station instead of regular AA batteries ?
I can't seem to find them online.
Don't worry about the Wii U branding, Wii Remote and Wii U Remotes are the same. Don't know how long they last though. AA batteries are also completely fine, I've used mine for weeks without charging.
Thanks !
This is exactly what I needed.
But... It's "Currently unavailable"... And I can't even think about finding them in stores.
I live in a mentally deficient country, also known as France, where you can't expect to see cultural or unordinary things.
Also, it says on the box "Nintendo 3DS AC Adapter".
And I don't own a 3DS.
@Nightmare9202 It comes with a 3DS AC adapter, which is used to charge the batteries. I can understand why this is all very confusing, cause I had to look it up too, but apparently the charging cradles use the same adapters as a 3DS. I'm not sure why they wouldn't just call it an ''AC adapter'', because adding ''3DS'' only makes it unnecessarily complicated.
Anyway, if you're from France, try the French Amazon; looks like they're still available there: https://www.amazon.fr/Nintendo-Remote-Rapid-Charging-anglais/... You could also contact local stores, but seeing how this is a pretty niche product, and assuming that they're not being restocked anymore, I wouldn't be surprised if they're difficult to find elsewhere.
You did well to warn me about this Nunchuk thingy, I had no idea it was a required attachment to play.
I tried to look for all the tools I need, and I found this.
At the bottom, you can see the "Wii Remote Rapid Charging Battery" as well as the "Wii Remote Rapid Charging Cradle".
If these things can be shipped in France, I would rather buy them here.
Is Nintendo aware of how unecessary complicated and terribly inconvenient all of this is ?
I just want to play a game that used to work with a GameCube controller.
I know that I am 10 years late to the party, but still...
@Nightmare9202 That's the North American site, I don't think they ship outside of NA, and they're bloody expensive on their site. Try the Amazon.fr link I posted; it's only €20.00 (and it comes with some extra stuff). Nunchucks shouldn't be difficult to find, you can probably find them every store that sells Nintendo products.
And yes, it's all unnecessarily complicated, it has always been, and I don't think that'll change with Nintendo. The idea that a Wii Remote charging cradle comes with a 3DS adapter, but the 3DS itself doesn't, is absolutely ridiculous...
Ok.
Thank you so much for your time and quick answers, it really helped.
I will try to consider everything that I've learnt and make the right call.
Unfortunately, the one available on Amazon.fr is already used, and I've had such bad experiences with used products in the past, that I want to avoid it if I can.
But if there's nothing else, I guess that'll do it.
Yep definitely get an official Nintendo made Wiimote Plus. I've got two third-party wiimotes, they work fine on the Wii, but not on the Wii U. A Wiimote Plus will also stand you in good stead for the Zelda minigame in Nintendoland. It's a fun game!
I have bought three Wii battery chargers in the past. The first was the official Nintendo one which worked fine but after a year or so the batteries wouldn't charge any more. The second was a Chinese knock-off, cheap but a waste of money. The third was yet more Chinese crap - a little grey pack with four rechargeable batteries in it, for the balance board. You had to fit it into the battery compartment and plug it in - a light was supposed to light up - it didn't, and the balance board didn't work at all. So I got my money back on that and I will never ever buy Chinese knock-offs again - for ANY electronic goods.
If you only want one for Metroid Prime then buying a new Remote Plus is overkill. Just get a used official basic wii remote from a 100% feedback user on eBay.
But if you might be interested in other Wii/U games in the future then it might be worth going for a new one.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
