Honestly the touch screen could still be used, just as a tactile interface for puzzles or options. You can still find the screen and swipe across it so if you had to rotate an object you simply place your finger on the screen which makes that the "center" and you slide it around while the object you are seeing in the Oculus moves with it. Just because the GamePad couldn't display anything (would be a bit pointless in this case) doesn't mean almost all of the other control parts won't work.

But I also agree that many of the games would probably use the WiiMotion Plus and Nunchuck option. Would give you a reticle on the screen that could be independent from your point of view.

At first you're talking about the GamePad and Oculus Rift, then suddenly the Wii U box and the Oculus Rift. Make up your mind please.

The GamePad is a very important part of the Wii U. I don't think there is a Wii U without the GamePad. When you bring up the Idea of "Wii U Games with the Oculus Rift" you didn't actually mean Wii U games you just meant using the Wii U as a middle man to play games using the Oculus Rift. Does that sound right?

Ease up bud. What he's saying is that it would be cool to have Wii U games (ie NINTENDO GAMES) in virtual reality. You don't have to get all technical with him on it. I get what he's saying. And yes, while the gamepad is integral, it's not NECESSARY for all games. Wii Sports Club, for example, will only be playable with Wiimotes. Pikmin 3, again, the preferred controller is the Wiimote. So it's not beyond reason to imagine a VR headset that syncs up with the Wii U console for certain games, I repeat, CERTAIN VR GAMES, not the ones that require the gamepad. The point of syncing with Wii U is to access the well of Nintendo IPs. That's why he's talking about it on Wii U as opposed to just the headset. He would like to see Nintendo games, particularly HD Nintendo game that could be run from the Wii U console, in virtual reality.

Who needs the Oculus Rift when you can take the glass out of a welding mask and put the gamepad almost perfectly over the gap and have the most seamless AR/VR effect on the market?

Super Fun Tip: Sit in an office chair with a decent amount of space around you and your welding mask gamepad helmet on, tie a piece of string to the right analog stick and play Zelda Battle Quest on Nintendoland.

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

@Nintenjoe64 Because Oculus Rift also has the depth 3D thing that 3DS uses. Maybe not the same technology, but you can see the same way... and it's too much work.

So basically exactly what I said. He is talking about the Wii U being a middle man to run Oculus Rift, not actually using the Wii U features (like the GamePad) for Oculus Rift. I think that would be a bad idea, consumers are already confused and adding Oculus Rift (or another VR tool) could just confuse them more about controllers.

Also, wow this is old. Why did this need to be resurrected?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
