In about 3 years I will probably be studying in Taiwan, but I have but one question. Does anyone know what region Nintendo systems there are? I couldn't find anything online about it, only one poorly written article that said they only have consoles in the Japanese language and not Mandarin or something like this (which wold be incredibly stupid IMO)... so IDK. I know there was a 3DS system exclusive to Taiwan at one point, but I see no articles on the internet about the matter. So I ask here...

My cousin lived in Taiwan and married a girl there.
He was staying at her parents house for a couple weeks and was in the kitchen one day, where there was tinfoil covering the window. Wanting some air, he opened the window and took the tinfoil off.
Later that afternoon his wife had a talk with him. Turns out her mother was upset, as she had put the tinfoil up to deflect the bad energy that was deflecting off the neighbors house and in through the kitchen window.
I'm pretty sure that's because Nintendo doesn't officially support China or Taiwan. Maybe in 3 years this will change.
IMO, get a Wii U/NX/3DS/etc in a region that has a language you can read, and just buy stuff digitally. You can still plug it in and play games online and access the eShop just fine, as if you were in the originally intended region.
Didn't Nintendo close down their Taiwan subsidiary a while back?
I just hope the NX aint region locked. In 3 years the NX will probably already be launched and hopefully region locking is a thing of the past.
But I'm still curious about the whole Taiwan situation. They are a big country with like 23 million people or so. They are missing out on a big market if they are not going to supply them with games in their language... I check the Nintendo Taiwan website, and they don't even have the Wii U there... they are still advertising the Wii and Nintendo DS along with the Nintendo 3DS.
If their entire country relies on importing from Japan to get their games then that is just sad... I live in Belize, and I have to import my games from the USA but atleast that's in English, a language I understand. If the game isn't even translated then that's just straight up terrible... Nintendo needs to get their act together... Hopefully change comes with a new CEO/President of Nintendo, and hopefully I wont have to suffer 4 years of college there without my Nintendo fuel.

Erm... am I supposed to learn a lesson from this story? Maybe I'm just dumb but... can you explain it?

You will find either Japanese or American imports for sale, probably.
Well, that's my experience living in China. Taiwan is obviously not so tightly controlled by the Chinese government, but I'd imagine in this situation it's probably the same.

Bring some spare tinfoil hats along when you go there.
It makes sense for Nintendo not to do business in a country if they don't find a profitable way to do it. It doesn't matter how many people there are. I wish it weren't that way, but you can't blame Nintendo, or its CEO, for sticking to what's profitable.
