I don't think this is necessarily true. Many on here see themselves as more sophisticated than people who play other consoles, looking down on any game or product that doesn't have 'Nintendo' stamped on it. They don't see themselves as being underdogs, they see themselves as being superior.

To be fair though people who have a Wii U even if they only have a Wii U are better positioned to make that point then most. They're the only ones who have played the Nintendo games everyone else has brushed aside for sure. But even though third party support is average they've also had a chance to play a fair collection of some of the best third party games early on. Mass Effect 3, Arkham City, Assassin's Creed 4, Deus Ex HR, Need for Speed MW. Sure if people are Nintendo exclusive they've missed out on Portal 2, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider and GTAV but everyone else has missed out on Bayonetta 2, 3D World, Smash Bros and Pikmin 3.

As someone who straddles both? I have as much if not more fun with Nintendo's stuff. So there's a reason for Nintendo fans to argue that they're the ones getting the better deal. If it ties up the knickers of people who want to write them them off? So be it.

Most of the time, I don't really care.

But for my answer, I will say that critics mostly look at flaws and ignore strengths while the defenders look at strengths and ignore flaws. Of course this is assuming there are only two categories of such gamers.

*Lackluster online

I usually have good times with their online. Then again, I rarely use it.

*Lackluster 3rd party efforts

To be fair, I can apply this to most of the industry, but that's for another discussion.

*Lackluster marketing

I do hope this doesn't involve ignoring the good marketing they have done.

*Not trying to be competitive

In what regard? It seems to me that the only way they can be "competitive" is doing exactly what Microsoft and Sony are doing, and I don't know if that will actually solve anything.

*Being copyright Nazi's to an extent

I have nothing to say because I don't really care.

*Lack of proper Gamepad justification

To an extent, yes, but I am actually enjoying off-TV play.

*Stubbornness to modernize

I have nothing here aside from my point in the competitive part.

*Region Locking

I don't really have a strong opinion. I don't import.

unrandomsam

What surprised me when I was playing on an Xbox one recently is every single game out of about 15 played like one of three styles. (Of games I had already played before).
