I plan on ditching the 3DS version for the Wii U version. I'd rather play it on the big screen off my ext. HDD in surround sound. If games start doing 3D on Wii U(maybe this game), I plan on getting a 3D converter to turn my non 3D HDTV into a 3D one. Yup, they make a 3D converter. $90. How nice, now I can carry around a 3D converter instead of an entire 3D display to convert any HDTV in a 3D one. Ya I'm rambling, just making sure you get it...

If it's similar in execution to Resident Evil 4 (and that means controls - not doing the tank thing again after owning the Resident Evil remake on Gamecube for five minutes) then I'm in. RE4 is the only game in the franchise that I owned (and I think it holds the record for the game I've owned and sold and purchased again the most times...four I think - I was so conflicted!) which I liked (mostly) - can they do it again?
I'm picking up Resident Evil: Revelations for Wii U again to support 3rd parties on Wii U. It's the best 3DS game ever made next to Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, & [when it comes out] Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate.
RE4 still has the same tank controls as the previous traditional RE games, it's the just the 3rd person view
and overhaul in aiming that are different. I for one love it as it makes you feel all the more vulnerable.
Revelations ups the ante by allowing you to shoot(in one position)while walking,
plus side stepping/strafing.
Well, that made it feel a lot better I can tell you. Clicking a button and point to shoot with the remote is a lot better than trying to aim with a second stick!
Anyways, while the 3rd person perspective alows you to aim freely unlike old school traditional RE games it also loses the incredibly detailed pre rendered environments and practically loses it's horror movie/cinematic flare.
I agree and I've had this argument with folk before. The camera angles in the first Resident Evil did have that feel, but often broke the gameplay. There are bits where I'm trying to get an item on a table, but because of a dramatic lower camera angle shift I can no longer see what it was I was going for! Breaking the actual gameplay for artistic reasons seems a bit goofy to me for some reason...
What would have made RE4 controls even better would have been using the pointer for camera moves - basically full Wii first-person controls. They did this for Rogue Trooper Wii and it worked really well allowing for intuitive run-and-gun action in the 3rd person.
Revelations sounds like a game that definitely needs a demo so I can experience the controls first-hand.
What does that mean? They're speeding up monsters? There's nothing wrong with some added enemy variety but I'm certainly not looking for Capcom to remake Revelations into a more combat centric Resident Evil.
I do recall a lot of players complaining about not being able to shoot off arms/legs/heads in Revelations. I wonder if Capcom will alter that as well?
Nice, Imma get it for PS3. Along with Resi4 and Code Veronica X. Already got Resi1-3. That way I'll have the only entries in the series worth giving a damn about.

Not if you buy Resident Evil 3 you won't.
Too late for that, but you can't return Digital titles (yet).
@Wavester: Honestly I am beginning to think that the only reason they added pointer controls to RE 4 was so that way it would have been different enough from the GC, PS2 version etc. to warrant people to purchase it again. This gen Nintendo gimmick seems to be the touch screen/second screen which RE:R does make use of so I doubt we will see the pointer controls on this one.
