Are wrestling games still as fun as they were back then?

No!

I last played a WWE game maybe 2 or 3 years ago, and it was nowhere near as good as the old ones. They look nicer and have all the bells and whistles in terms of match types, but the gameplay isn't as good, which sucks. If they ever made one as good as the WCW games on the N64, I would probably buy it, even though I don't even watch WWE anymore.

I remember spending the night at a friends house and neither of us had beaten The Legend of Zelda, even though we were both very familiar with the game. The two of us spent two nights absolutely wrecking that game and getting to all of the secrets. There are so many games like that for me. I think there is something about being able to hand the controller off to someone else when things get rough. Being able to take a step back and watch another person, and then a light goes on and you know what to do.

Yeah, when I was younger it didn't matter if the game was built for multiplaying because we would find a way to always play in two.
Once in an IwataAsks I read Tsunku talking about passing the WiiMote and just enjoy watching other players play - that really resonates with me because it was a big part of the experience when I was younger (starting from watching other people playing at the arcade).
I do appreciate online multiplaying, but I thought it was a step backwards: after all the effort these companies like Sega or Nintendo have made to eradicate from our culture the image of the "videogamer playing alone in his dark room", we got back to it.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Only 21 but the consoles of my youth were the Playstation and Nintendo 64. I recall days on end having friends over in the winter and playing through Wretlemania and Goldeneye. When I was alone the PS ruled with its single player affairs like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and Legend of Dragoon.

27 here. Sure sometimes it can be a bummer. I have some friends who still play a bit but most of the time the only time I get playing with friends is Madden. Nothing wrong with that it is all good fun sometimes just want something different. That's why I always insist Nintendo needs to figure out that people like online play.

Edit: Although yes, online play isn't the same as having a group of friends around the TV but it is better than nothing.

I will say I do find it harder to enjoy games now then I did when I was younger. For one thing it is the multiplayer aspect. All my friends that I grew up with don't play video games as much as they did and when they do its stuff like CoD stuff that doesn't interest me. Also it is the state of today's games. I dont know why but honestly most games one playthrough is enough for me. I mean even a game that I liked as much as GTA V, Assassin's Creed III, Arkham City, one playthrough is enough for me yet games like Mega Man II or Super Mario Bros 3 I can play over and over again. Not only that but its also the sharing of games and talking about games that I miss. When your a kid the school playground was always full of kid's trading secrets or giving out tips on how to beat a nasty boss or even discussing what they liked/didn't like about the game. Trying doing that at work at least mine and all you get is discussions about Madden, CoD, GTA etc. I mean now we have the internet to do that and sites like Nintendo Life but for some reason it's just not the same.

I do kinda get that magically multiplayer feeling again when I play with my son games like Lego Marvel or Diablo III or even Borderlands but there's is also games that I wont play on my own like Madden or CoD that he likes which he tries to get me to play (which I do to appease him) but I can only stand them so much and then he gets upset when I dont want to play them anymore. But what's nice with him is that he does enjoy the older retro games like Goldeneye on the N64, or River City Ransom on the NES or even Sonic 2 on the Genesis. So that is nice.

Another thing that I will bring up is time. I dont have all the time in the world like I did when I was a kid cause of work, family and other responsibilities and when I play a video game I like to feel accomplished. If I only have 30 minutes to play a game and say I need to grind levels in an RPG I probably will pass on the game and watch a tv show instead. However if in that 30 minutes I can say complete a dungeon in a Zelda game then I will play it. Once I start playing video games I really dont like to stop untill I have got my times worth if that makes sense. So I tend to play video games in short two hour bursts for example.

Sorry for the wall of text, but this is an interesting question and it just got me thinking.

I'm 28 and super lucky to have a couple friends who are still hardcore gamers, even with wives included haha. I do have a few friends who are "anti Nintendo" after the Wii, but even some of them have been softening up to the Wii U lately. I'd say I still get to have some good gaming sessions a couple times a month with three or four people, so I count myself as lucky.

I never had many friends as a kid, due to being a loner and moving around so much. The only people I regularly played games with were my cousin Jared, and to a lesser extent my uncle Cletis. The biggest mainstay between Jared and I was "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out", and I honestly don't remember who finished it first.

God, guns, and guts made America; let's keep all three.

I actually have even more friends to play games with than I did as a kid. It's a big draw to social games like Just Dance or Wii Party U.

Ahhhh! WWF RAW on the Genesis... I remember we would fit 10 people in a tiny room just to play 'losers pass the controller' but then we had to make a new rule if the winner won 3 matches in a row they had to pass too

I am 33 and I can't even remember the last time I sat in from of a TV with another person to play a console game. It has been several years at least and I do think not having anyone else to play with has had an impact on my enjoyment of console gaming. There is a good chance I would have a much higher opinion of my Wii U if I was able to share the experience with friends. A few years down the road I'm sure my son will begin to become interested in games though and I look forward to that whole new experience.

as a kid I played by myself mostly. when I got my Donkey Kong Country SNES, I played that with my younger brother. I played games with my little brother until college. then got out of gaming until 2004, but by then all of my friends were no longer into gaming so it was solo play until three years ago. Now I play with my son and daughter. I'm not really into online play though. I prefer playing with people I know. I'm 31 years old and always find time to game.
