Mario 3D World sold 2 million. New Super Mario Bros U sold 4 million. Wind Waker HD sold 1.1 million. Nintendo Land sold 2.5 million. Most of their games are succeeding anyway, so where's the problem with software sales?

They do need new franchises, but what's more important to me is that they make more games with the IPs that they already have. The best title in the Star Fox series is Star Fox 64 (in my opinion) and that game came out in 1997. It's high time for a new one. The series skipped the Wii entirely and while the 3DS version is awesome, it's not new. Give me an HD Star Fox, please.

And what about F-Zero? 2003 since the last one there. Can you imagine how good that would look on the Wii U?

Hopefully Retro is working on a new Metroid game now that Tropical Freeze is out there.

Star Fox, F-Zero, Metroid... make these games!!! Nintendo has so many great and unique characters and IPs that they're just sitting on for some reason. Mario games are wonderful, but let's get some other games out there, too.

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

No, by "New IP" I don't mean "Rusty's Real Deal Baseball" or "Flingsmash" I mean something along the lines of Golden Sun. A New IP that is sure to be a SMASH hit.

But Nintendo is hoping "Rusty's Real Deal Baseball" is going to be a SMASH hit. (I think) How many people have been asking for Sports games on a Nintendo platform?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Why are you guys fighting over why they should make a new IP

Because it's the Internet.

I think it's less of a new IP problem, and more of a problem with IP abandonment. There's also the issue of marketing titles that are sure to be critical successes, and letting those titles go when they underperform... Sin & Punishment 2 anyone? Sure, I would love to see some new IP's from the big N, but they'd do well to maintain interest in the "forgotten" properties with releases and a new strategy for marketing them. Nintendo's back catalogue should be more than enough to set them apart from their competitors, the problem is they don't utilize it or market those games very well when they are released.

A new IP would be nice, but I think as long as they have a decent variety of genres covered, they're fine. And they do, besides the usual platformers they have Zelda for action/adventure, Mario Kart for racing, Smash Bros. for fighting, Pokemon and Xenoblade for RPGs, and Metroid for shooters. They've got pretty much all of the major genres covered.

What I think is more problematic is the lack of creativity between games, some of Nintendo's older franchises (especially Mario) are starting to get stale, and I think a lot of gamers are put off by the lack of new ideas and the lack of interesting use for the Gamepad.
