From seeing that commercial. I gotta say.... not too happy seeing only little kids and families playing because this might actually repel more of those "hardcore" gamers since it lacked stuff they would be into like ZombiU, Ninja Gaiden, Assassin's Creed, or Call of Duty. Hopefully they will make another commercial that will focus on the mature games too so we dont attract just the same audience that enjoyed Wii, I want people of all ages and game types playing Wii U.
The people that play the "hardcore" games don't need to be sold by a 30-60 second TV ad.
Edit: I just saw that what I posted was similar to Discostew

And how many of these "hardcore" gamers are online right now reading websites like this?

I unfortunately feel that the commercial might have continued to represent a problem with Nintendo's idea of the Wii U since they first unveiled it. Too much focus on the Gamepad, which might make people believe that the Gamepad IS the WiiU, rather than it being a completely new console and being an addon for the Wii. Of course we know that isn't true, but what about those that aren't doing such research, and are relying on such commercials?
Nintendo needs to address this problem in their next commercial, in that the Wii U is a completely new console. Demonstrate what it can do that the Wii obviously cannot.

You've got to look at it this way. How many "hardcore" people rely on ads instead of their own research when making a decision on games? Now, how many "casual" people in the same scenario?
I absolutely love the new Slogan ^-^
I can say that much, for certain, I'm kinda " 'eh" On the rest of the commercial though... Although, that commercial isn't really intended to sell one to me, seeing as I already bought one..
I don't get why people are complaining about this ad. Firstly it's an ad for TV so they're not going to spend the whole minute showing cross platform games. They want to sell the Wii U not Assassins Creed remember. The intent would have been to get people who didn't know what it was wanting to search for more information and to get people who do know what it is more excited.
Ontop of that they did make it look like something other than a Wii accessory for the first time. They only said one thing, that this is how you are going to be playing games on the "all new" Wii U. Not Wii U controller or even Wii U but "all new" Wii U. Then they depart from the all white colours of the Wii and make everything black. If people watch that ad and think that this isn't a new console I don't know what else will convince them... short of building a time machine and naming it something other than Wii U or simply waiting for people to work it out over time.
