I registered a network ID and tied my first WiiU (black 32gb) to my ClubNintendo account when I got it a year ago.
If I get a new, 2nd WiiU (either the Mario or Zelda 32gb bundle), do I get another 160 coins if I tie it to the same ClubNintendoaccount? Or Do I have to create a new family member to receive coins? The rules say only 1 per account but last year i got points for my second "3ds XL" that i registered.
If I won't get points I guess I will create a new 'family' account and I know that all coins are cumulative so it is not a big deal except setting up a new email address
I read mixed messages on various help forums so came here, thanks in advance
as time goes on it will become a common question. i am simply replacing my WiiU figured someone on here as done the same especially with the Zelda limited edition that came out
You can't register a second system of the same model on the same individual account. You can, however, register one system from each of the following models: 2DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, etc. So you can register a 3DS and 3DS XL

The only thing different with the Zelda bundle is the the Gamepad. The console itself is just the black deluxe model. If you want you can just sync your Zelda game pad to your current Wii U and not have to deal with transfering or any of that stuff. The Wind Waker game itself is a download code so you can add that to your current Wii U as well.

I plan to call Nintendo Help here in a little while and will keep you guys posted.
To clarify my position, my first WiiU essentially got the Red Blinking light thing. It would sporadically work so I never ended up sending it in for repairs during the warranty period. And now it never turns on at all anymore. This is why I'm having to get a second WiiU. I've been a huge Nintendo loyalist my entire life but this is the first time I've started to waver/question them as I've read about others having this "red blinking light- unresponsive wiiu" problem
I would like to not have to set-up a family account but I also want the 160 coins. I am indeed buying a second WiiU and giving Nintendo 300+ more bucks.
And I can also see this becoming a common question here in the future as people start getting a second WiiU for whatever reasons.
So I guess I will just register the second WiiU to a family account, and then after I get the ClubNintendo coins/points I will switch my new console back to my main ClubNintendo account. I guess this an easy way to get around the one system limit
just try it and if the PIN doesn't work then add a family member. I have a family account myself and was able to get the coins for four systems ( one for each family member added + me).
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

wait, why did you buy a second system? Did you not try to file a repair claim first? If you registered your first Wii U on Club Nintendo the warranty was extended another 90 days, so it would still be under warranty even if you bought it day one. I don't even know why you bought a second one?
I have yet to buy the second one I am just being hypothetical. Still trying to decide what to do but yes I forgot about the 90 day extension so I will try to get it repaired before jumping to buy a second WiiU.

Yeah I know this is the most sure-fire way but I swear I got coins for two identical (blue) 3DS XL systems last year under the same account. I'm just wondering if anyone in N.A. has tried doing the same thing with the WiiU. I'd like to not use up another family account as I think there is a limit to 5 or something.
