So my wii u cuts off a good inch to 2 inches off of the left and top part of the screen its always done that.... but with monster hunter 3 I cant see my health bar, I think that would be a problem... I was wondering if anybody knew if there was a fix for this. I have been dealing with it since i got it at launch but I can't really play monster hunter 3 (unless i want it to be extremely hard on me) without my health bar... So is there a fix? because that would be great :)

Edit: also I have a 60 inch projection Mitsubishi projection screen tv from i think 2006... if that helps

If you have an HDTV, choose NORMAL under screen settings. Zoom, wide, cinema, and auto are no go. Turn overscan off. As for SD TVs. I have no clue.

Well it is an hd tv but I have the screen setting on standard. When i do change it to sat "narrow" it is still cutting off the side. I believe its the aspect ratio settings but both of them are terrible for my tv one cuts out part of it and the other just makes 2 big black lines on top and bottom but its still cut off... I am however using the regular wii av cables since my tv does not have a proper HDMI port... idk if getting wii hd component cables would help though

If your TV supports component, that's the way to go. Did you try turning overscan off?

Do you have an advanced video option?

Theres an advanced features option and all it has is color balance, timer convergence, video mute, and black enhancement.

Do you have the instructions, or know the model number so you can look up how to do it?

What resolution is the TV? I have a TV in the living room that's 720p and it cuts off the sides of the screen, and none of the zoom functions works. :/

Do you have set on 720p in the settings? Your TV is pretty new, so it should have newer settings.

I'm pretty sure any TV made 2008 to now has all the standard settings.

...Wut? This TV I'm talking about isn't new, lol. This is basically the family TV. MY TV works perfectly. :p

Ya, sorry. Jumped the gun. Didn't read the family part. Still though, I'm pretty sure HDTVs made 2008 and later are kept up with the standard. My parents Panasonic HDTV from '09 is better than my TV I got a couple months ago. It was half the price, but it doesn't have as many features or 120hz.
I guess once consoles run games at 120fps it will matter, but right now it doesn't really matter.

Eh I didn't say family in the original post, and I also said "I have"...which isn't true. lol
Well whatever, yeah I dunno how old that TV is, all I know is that we had it for a while and none of the settings fixes the screen problem. (also heard a lot of 720p TVs do this because of its weird resolution anyways)

Well I don't know about the XBox, but the Wii U is an HD console...so if you're playing it in 480 then that's probably what you're going to be stuck with. Unless you mean XBox 360.

Well the tv has a dvi port and i have a dvi to hdmi cord. i plug it in and it looks great but i don't get sound because dvi to hdmi does not carry sound. I did this with my xbox and also plugged in the av cables to the port and sound and video work perfectly. When i do it with the Wii u it wont have any sound at all.... unless I go into wii mode then it has sound and its up-scaled to hd.... So yeah im thinking about buying hd component cables or just waiting for my b day

Also In the final version of Monster hunter do you think there will be a screen adjustment option?

Hmm... My TV has a 'dot to dot' option, along with the typical standard, stretched, zoom and auto functions. If I don't use that option I have the same problem as you.
