Nintendo's "mature" games like Fire Emblem, Metroid, Xenoblade, etc. actually don't seem to be kid-unfriendly in terms of content ratings. In japan, Fire Emblem gets a CERO B rating for ages 12 and up, the Japanese equivalent of an E10+, you wanna know what other games got this rating? Kid Icarus: Uprising and The Wonderful 101, both with brighter colors and even more silliness. Mind you, Kid Icarus received an E10+ in the US, and The Wonderful 101 really should've been E10+ IMO.

Meanwhile, Fatal Frame 4 for Wii, is one of Nintendo's very few games to get a CERO C rating for ages 15+ in Japan. So much so, that any game on a Nintendo platform rated C or higher get a special black box. Basically, Nintendo games in japan are no less family friendly than in the US as they mostly publish A and B rated titles. Some of the seem more mature due to differing standards between the US and Japan. So Xenoblade while may seem more adult, is appropriate for tweens in japan.

Not to say they aren't mature in terms of themes or gameplay, but they aren't necessarily inappropriate for your average 12 year old either. In fact, they're no worse than your average Shonen Jump series like Naruto or One Piece, which are actually kids shows in Japan. Nintendo rarely releases anything that would be inappropriate for gamers under 15. So what are your thoughts on this?

I think it's great because younger audiences have more access to games that could have easily been altered to get an M rating. There are tons of M rated games that could have easily been made as a T or even E10+ rated game which would allow for younger kids to get to play them.

Whenever I think of Nintendo I think of OG Disney, both don't really have anything you'll see come out of Attack On Titan but both have moments that make me think "THIS IS FOR KIDS OMG" LIKE Kid Icarus Uprising had SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much of that like with that Pandora scene omgomgomgomg I was dying and the Palutena and Phospohroa convos and Fire Emblem Awakening is a great example too xD but it is darker so it didn't hit hard like how Kid Icarus hit me

Its the same with a lot of Shonen series like Naruto and One Piece. You won't belive how many people I came across who will swear till the end of time that those are teen and young adult shows, when in reality, they're for kids, different country, different standards. Nothing wrong with enjoying kid-friendly content, but what you think is the target audience isn't what it really is.
