Still have lots to play on my Wii U, but it is easily one of my favorite systems ever. My top 3:
1. Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2. Splatoon
3. Super Mario 3D World
I still need to play way more before I can decide on a top 5, though I think BotW and Splatoon will keep their places (they're in fact in my top 5 of all time). I still need to beat Super Mario 3D World (though I played enough to be impressed by it), still have to play and beat Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 (though I liked what I played of 1 so far), still have to play Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Yoshi, Nintendoland, Pikmin 3, Captain Toad, Hyrule Warriors, Rayman Legends, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and Twilight Princess HD. And try some more Wonderful 101 and Star Fox Zero and maybe Paper Mario before I decide whether to try to complete them. I did play Xenoblade X but disliked it due to its RPG nature (not a big fan of RPGs, thought this would be an exception but I guess not).
Yoshi's Woolly World is a fantastic game and deserves the love. I don't know would it make the top 5, maybe. But it's definitely in the top 10. It's beautiful, mellow, challenging at times, especially the bonus unlockable levels, collecting the extras like the flowers, wool is great fun too, sweet music and it's a really lengthy game. I didn't expect much from it but was very pleasantly surprised by it. It's a 9/10 game for me.
I had to include Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed because it's the best console version and the Wii U game that I have played the most.
@BlueOcean is it really? I've always wanted to give the series a go but was unsure which version was the better choice. I can get the WiiU version for a tenner over here, so if it's really the best out of the three ports I might take a chance on it...
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

@spizzamarozzi Back in the day it was the best console version (ignoring the PC version which is better). It didn't have screen tearing (which is a deal-breaker for some people) and the performance was as good as the other console versions (with occasional slowdowns on the three of them) with the added plus that it had not screen tearing on Wii U. However, screen tearing is eliminated on Xbox One backwards compatibility and the frame rate is also smoother on Xbox One, so probably today the best version is the Xbox 360 version but only if you play it on Xbox One.
@CreamyDream@BlueOcean cheers for the info! Yeah, PC isn't a viable option for me unless the game can run on an Intel 486, which I doubt, so I have to stick to consoles. I always have to triple check before buying a multi-platform game on WiiU because of the lack of DLC and overal lack of post-release support from the developers, but it looks like Sonic Racing is the exception that confirms the rule.
Plus, ah! I've got so used to buying games on mobile phone and second-hand PS3 games (bought Fallout New Vegas not one week ago for FOUR quid) that even spending £10 for a WiiU game sounds like a lot of money now ehe.

Top 3 is easy:
Super Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
And no. 4 and 5 are probably Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon.
Or maybe Wind Waker HD and Yoshi's Woolly World?
Nah, surely Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3?
Wait, I forgot Super Smash Bros and Super Mario 3D World
and Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors and and and...
@Samus7Killer Whilst I confess I forgot about the Deluxe edition, I did say "launched exclusively". Basically if there was any period of time that the Wii U was the only platform to play the game, it counts.
This is why there is no Zelda game listed or my fave eShop game Freedom Planet as it originally released on PC.
