I had no idea. TK do seem to be giving the Wii U a lot of support.

Eh, the existence of a TK strategy game isn't really an indication of support. Every console gets like six of them. It would be nice if one could actually be localised for a change.

What I mean is that they're doing a fair job of bringing their most recent releases to the console: Gaiden, Ken's Rage.

While Battalion Wars isn't necessarily bad (well the boring boring boring stereotype characters are...), I'd be horribly disappointed if that's the closest we get to some relevant RTS game on the system that isn't Pikmin-like. This would be my only chance to play any modern RTS, so can we just have some of that? A Civ game? Starcraft 2? XCom? Please?

You would be disappointed if you started playing Xcom or Civilization expecting it to be a RTS :-/

Ok, Civ is excusable but I knew XCom wasn't RTS, how did I make that mistake?

But I do hope to see some cool strategy games in general on Wii U.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

Agreed. The genre has long been ignored on consoles, aside from the likes of LKS and Battalion Wars, but that's like saying Facebook has a simulation game because of FarmVille.

I suspect the real strategy games will remain largely on PC and iPad for the foreseeable future though. Which is a pity because the gamepad would be great for it.

Yeah, I think the GamePad has some great potential for these type of games, but I also thought the Wii Remote and Nunchuk had a lot of potential and it just never seemed to be fulfilled (Still waiting on my FPS-ish lightsaber game. , maybe one day....). Knowing that Battalions Wars 2 was released within the first year of the system, and it had online, maybe later this year we'll see a Wii U version?

I honestly have no clue what is going on in the industry though, everything seems upside down at the moment.

It would be great if a Battalion Wars game came out sometime in the summer drought.

I think they were right on the edge of success if their multiplayer game was more complex with unit production. I have a list of suggestions for the next game. I never owned a Wii U yet as I see no reason to when the only interesting game out there is SSB4 so apologies for making any difficult requests.

I've looked at the gamepad and I think its the perfect implementation for Battalion Wars III, in the above picture is an example of multiplayer 4player FFA. You get to command three groups which helps makes things easier since you can put land in first, air in second, and naval in third or mix them together to find the good combo you like to use. On the left side is the units not in a group AKA sitting at spawn, you drag them into the groups and you move them around in the full map screen or in the smaller map screen in the top right.

I would also like multiplayer to be more complex like advance wars. The buildings you capture allow you to buy what unit you need for the battle instead of being thrown some preset mix of units to fight the enemy with. The other useful thing about this is you don't get to camp in defensive mode like in BWII or else the opposing player will capture all the buildings and gain a bigger advantage. Would also appreciate a 2v2 mode and 4 player FFA which is the good zone for a game with so many cool nations.

I made a 4 player map as an example of combined arms and good for 2v2 or 4p FFA. By the way a map editor would probably be one of the best thins they could give us.

Since BWII had many similarities to WW2 at least in the campaign aspect then BWIII could probably take after a World War III scenario with weapons of mass destruction. Heres my unit wishlist:

Aircraft Carrier: A counterpart to the dreadnought, great AA capabilities and can produce seafighters and divebombers. It relies on its aircraft to overwhelm the enemy.
Seafighter: A weaker version of the land variant but can be produced at a quicker rate
DiveBomber: A bomber fighter that drops 2 bombs and fires 2 missiles
Sniper: longest range unit in the game, not visible on radar
Heavy Recon: Big mistake to remove in BWII, it did not seem redundant in my opinion
APC: If given the same armor as a light tank then its definitely worth using in battle to transport troops
Naval Transport: Needed for multiplayer
Transport Copter: Needed for multiplayer
Nuclear Silo: A new facility that allows for the production of nuclear weapons, not exactly a way to the endgame but it certainly gives you an advantage provided you have the time and resources.
Atomic Bomber: A modification of the original bomber, its bomb bay is dedicated to the atomic bomb which when dropped destroys everything in a 30 yard radius and leaves the area contaminated by radiation for 3 minutes after.
Nuclear Missile: A more advance nuclear weapon that destroys every unit in a 60 yard radius and leaves the area contaminated by radiation for 2 minutes after.
Radiation Grunt: A regular grunt in a hazmat suit, his special ability is to walk through radiated areas unharmed. Good for capturing CPs in contaminated zones or finishing off enemies that survived the blast.

New Nation: France

I think theyre more than qualified for the next game, their army in WWI and WW2 had a very cartoonish aspect especially their vehicles and the French personality is very fitting in a game that requires interesting and unique characters. Their grunt can take after the WW2 Uniform design which was a nice adrian helmet, large coat, and pretty cool leggings and the rest of the weaponry can follow a 1914-1945 theme.

I'm not very good at names but I was thinking Gaul Kingdom would sound kind of neat. Their story ingame could probably involve an alliance between Anglo Isles and Xylvania against the Solar Empire, Western Frontier, and Tundran Territories.

Fingers crossed for a new game

I wasn't a big fan of BW2. I stopped playing pretty early on.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

I would rather have a new kind of wars game, similar to the ds titles but adjusted to fit the wii u.Of course, a 3ds version would be great as well... but as of now I think we will have to make do with STEAM. Should be fine I guess...
