  • Avalanche has no plans for Wii U
  • Have a couple of Wii U dev kits that only collects dust
  • Too small install base according to Sundberg
  • Nintendo is hard to reach, you never know how to contact them
  • Believes Nintendo has a lot to win with copying Sony, reach out to developers, create enthusiasm

These guys are the guys behind the Just Cause games and the upcoming Mad Max game. I just find some of this hard to believe. The studio says the Wii U has a small install base yet they have been pretty open that one of their projects (probably Just Cause 3) is going to be a Durango/PS4 only project. They also accuse Nintendo of being hard to reach which might be true but indies seem to have an easy enough time and alot of those guys are going through thrid party channels. (emily rogers)

Well, I'm excited about Just Cause 3 on PS4.

Nintendo has issues at the moment.

So what makes them think that the PS4 will have a large install base?

Probably because it's the sexy console with the most positive buzz currently, and has some blockbusters set for around launch. Just my guess.

Ok then...
Either they're just being lazy cough(devkits)cough or this is just the usual mindset of low sales, no go.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Blockbusters? You mean the sequels and the games coming for other systems too?

Since when can sequels not be blockbusters? That's a strange statement. Even throwing Watchdogs in, the developers said when they got hold of PS4, they were able to improve both the graphics and AI. It's just that among the consoles, PS4 is perceived to be looking the most rosey currently. It's not a stretch to think it'll be a good seller, assuming it's $500 or less. Xbox will probably do well too, but to this point, they have perceived stink on them with the 'always online' business, which is not going to be the case.

Here's some information...

XBox 360 - launched Nov 22, 2005
Just Cause - released September 22, 2006
By September 23, 2006 (approximately 10 months after the system launched), around 4.6 million 360 units were sold.

Wii U - launched Nov 18, 2012
By April 20, 2013 (approximately 5 months after the system launched), almost 3 million Wii U units were sold.

Something about them saying the Wii U's low install base is a reason not to bring it over doesn't sound right.....

Development cost have risen which may be what they are referring to but since the Wii U uses technology slightly better than the 360 and PS3 it is a little weird. I don't think the Durango or PS4 will sell much better than the Wii U, but I know others that disagree.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@Disctostew
It's because they are being hypocritical. I'm pretty sure Wii U has about 4 million sales by now, which is more than Xbox 360 at this point considering it hasn't been 10 months.

Companies will continue to make up BS until they realize they are BS themselves.

As for PS4, that s*** shouldn't be as hyped as it is. People just saw graphics that weren't that much better, social features I personally don't care about, non existent Gaikai(working on it), no BC, etc.
The excuse with Gaikai is the perfect comparison to what Nintendo is doing in terms of falling short. Everybody is criticising Nintendo for not having everything out, while Sony states Gaikai won't be ready for a while, and will go through the same launch woes.

Gaikai is a bad 'backwards compatibility' replacement if you ask me. Nintendo does an admirable job in that area.
