Just get an arcade cabinet and put a PC running a MAME emulator in the back. I've seen a lot of people on Youtube doing just that.

That's not nearly the same as being shoulder to shoulder with one to five strangers with a common goal. Call me old fashioned, but I really hate how everything is online or emulated these days. I've had a couple friends come over the past few nights to play Perfect Dark and it's been a blast! Playing with my real human friends is what makes gaming fun for me.

But yeah, you would save thousands of dollars by doing the whole emulation thing....and your electricity bill wouldn't skyrocket.

Yeah I wouldn't do the MAME cabinet personally, I'd like to have stand alone cabinets. One of these days I really would like to have my own arcade.

You'd really need multiple MAME cabinets to do it right. I've used one of those Astrocade things at an arcade in San Jose and it was awful with the layout having a trackball, two joysticks and buttons that weren't always in the right place - not to mention the crap menu interface.

One dual-stick cab and one rotary/trackball cab at a minimum. To be honest I couldn't be bothered - just my Mac Mini and a CC-USB cable, though I almost never use it because the Wii always has something going on!

BulbasaurusRex

Time Crisis 2
Time Crisis 3
Simpsons Arcade
both TMNT arcade games
Star Wars Trilogy
LA Machineguns
Mario Kart Arcade
Metal Slug
Soul Calibur 2
one of the Tekkens (not Tag Team)
NBA Jam (if there's an arcade version of Tournament Edition, I'll go with that)
Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder (or whatever it's called)
Sonic Championship
a good pinball machine
...and for oldschool fans
Galaga
Space Harrier

If you couldn't tell, I go to the arcade for shooters (mostly light gun), beat-'em-ups, and fighters.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
