Glad you liked the review mate, it was a very good game, just not everybody's cup of tea. It still kinda felt like a Mario game, just without all the varying locales that we're used to.

It's pretty much my favorite 3D Mario game(i have no interest in the galaxy games,so i never bothered with those).

It's still kind of funny foe me how people say Super Mario 64 is the best game ever and Sunshine is terrible. Don't get me wrong, I think SM64 was innovative and a breakthrough for the series, but I just think SMS and SMG 1 & 2 are just more fun.

I've never been a fan of Mario Sunshine, too many of the levels were very frustrating and un-enjoyable . On completion of most of the levels it was more of a sense of relief that it was over thinking to myself "thank god that's done with" rather than actual enjoyment and wanting to play through the level again.

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy a challenging game and if I'm honest by comparison Mario Galaxy was probably too easy. I think they got it just right with Mario 64 but Sunshine never did it for me. I think that's why I never really got into the GameCube in general.

Mario 64 was great, but it was a little fidgity for me though.

That's because Nintendo learned from their terrible mistakes. Like good developers do.

Though i'm still kind of puzzled why some people on here treat Mario Sunshine like Hotel Mario.

Because when you compare any Mario to Super Mario 64, you're bombarded by blind fanboys.

Why does it have to be compared to 64 at all. I've learned that with series like Mario and Zelda, its best to just appreciate or don't appreciate the game for what it is. Don't compare it to games before it, especially not the typical 64 / Ocarina of Time comparison. In my opinion, its a very fun Mario game. I love the tropical setting, and I actually kind of enjoy the voice acting and cutscenes, its a nice change.

I would have preferred Super Mario Sunshine 2 over Luigi's Mansion 2, but oh well.

I have to disagree. Although I'm loving Super Mario Sunshine, NOTHING can come between me and Luigi's Mansion!

Loved that game, so glad its finally getting a sequel. I think a 3DS Luigi's Mansion 2 is great. So as I said before, for a Wii U sequel, we can hopefully get Super Mario Sunshine 2!

The Gamcube in general was very underrated along with its games .

If it's a challenge you want, then finding all the blue coins on your own is a great one. It's far from impossible (I did it on my own during my second play-through last year), it just takes dedication, sharp eyes and spraying lots of water anywhere you deem suspicious. It might take you a while to find the last coins you're missing in a level, but when you do, the sense of accomplishment is great, especially if they were particularly well-hidden...

Other than that, I couldn't disagree with your post more. If you want frustration, then the races and some of the purple coin challenges in the Galaxy games fit that description to a tee. Super Mario 64 was great, but Sunshine was amazing...

Should I mention that Blue Coin Shine Sprites aren't required to finish the game?

Also, if the person complained about the blue coins, then chances are that he/she's a completionist...

Super Mario Sunshine isn't an easy game in general, you would have to have at least some knowledge of the game whether it be platforming or blue coins.

I hated pretty much everything about the game from the camera to whatever the backpack was called. I guess the comments show it's probably the most polarizing Mario title out there.
