kirbys dremland was one of my first gameboy games ever. i think i actually got to king dedede on the first day! but i still played it tons, i actually got to the point where i couldnt play it on normal mode without dying like crazy because i was so used to the faster enemies.

i wouldnt say hes underrared though. hes got a good borderline cultish following, though i admit i havent been a very devote follower. i loved pinball land but i dont think ive bought one since that. ill have to jump back in now after reading this

I don't like SuperStar. Too many doors all over the place. Hard to think of something worse in a 2D platformer than a bunch of doors taking you to different places making it difficult to visualize how the level is laid out and where you should go next.

I like the more linear releases.

That's just a level of superstar though (and it is still quite linear).... The Amazing Mirror was much worse in that regard.

While I'm grateful to have received this game as part of the Ambassador program, it failed to win me over. I understand that we got a smattering of content from many of Nintendo's big stars, but ehh. Maybe I'm just spoiled from playing modern Kirby games.
Historically speaking, the Game Boy Advance carried forward a number of venerated characters and classic elements; many could have benefited from a tune up, but the novelty of a graphically powerful handheld was probably sufficient.

When the GBA released initially, I was almost tempted to pick up F-Zero... mostly on account of the graphics.
Ambassador's Verdict: Mario was the right choice.

I actually tend to really like less linear 2d platformers but KATAM was kinda a really bad idea. They made it work ok but I don't think they knew how to make a Metroidvania at all.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

Also, I have to love Kirby because it has some of my favorite music ever!

...this music alone is enough reason to love Kirby, hahaha! (and those are only from one game! There's loads more where this comes from!)
