Hey everyone, I am saving up to buy a system. Should I get a Zeebo from Brazil in July or a Pandora sometime this year in english. They both look pretty cool. The Zeebo is 599 Brazilian dollars or 259 US dollars and the Pandora is 329 american dollars. Zeebo has games from other systems including some great games while Pandora is a bunch of emulators with roms. Please help me decide.

I guess it depends on whether you want a home console or a handheld. Do you have a preference there?

I already read those but still don't know what to decide.

Oh yeah, I only have wired internet

Are the games for Zeebo smaller versions

why not look up what games are available for each? I've never heard of either console, to be honest, so i can't really give you any advice based on which one i'd rather have myself, but if you go through the list of available games, surely one of the two will have more games you really want to play available than the other...

The zeebo only has downloadable games and it comes out in July in Brazil. Some of the games are FIFA 09 RE4 Tekken 2 Crash Nitro Kart Quake Prey and Action Hero 3d while the Pandora is coming out sometime later this year and it has emulators from the ps1 and before and lots of games for the emulators. The Zeebo is only in Portugese and is 70 dollars cheaper than the Pandora but the Pandora is in English.

1. Zeebo.
It uses a 3g connection for the downloads & if I'm right it's lock on to a particular provider.
The connection itself is free even thru the games are downloadable.
You can not even swap simcards as it's has it imbeded in the motherboard.
So unless you live in Brazile it's a no go

2. Pandora.
As it's mostly really probable done to play ROMS & ROMS means piracy.
And also owning the orignal doesn't mean that it makes owning an unauthraised duplicate legal.
No mater what.
While there going to be orignal titles as well but as they done via the homebrew community quality is not garanteed.

In my opinion nether of them is really a good choice.

Wait you can't get a Brazilian console shipped to you in America. I know some Portugese. What should I get if I shouldn't get either of these.

No, it's not illegal to back up media you own. Downloading is. Dumping is not. I can buy a dumper for a game and legally get a copy of the SMB ROM with a dumper.

You can also take a look at the GP2X Wiz, the new GP2X. Comparable system specs, just slightly lower but has touchscreen! I think the price is 180USD.

After looking at the Zeebo, I would stay away from it. The pandora and gp2xwiz are both open source Linux and you can load almost anything on one.

I understand under must Jurisdictions that making copy's of software without permission is illegal even backups .

Instruction book of software disc from Nintendo wrote:

WARNING: Copying of any Nintendo game is illegal and is strictly prohibited by domestic and international intellectual property laws. "Back-up" or "archival" copies are not authorized and are not necessary to protect your software. Violators will be prosecuted

There you have it evidence that backups are infact without permission are illegal & as that quote states you don't have permission to make backup copys meaning that backups of Nintendos games is most diffently illegal .

Nintendo's book lies.

US Law wrote:

Under section 117, you or someone you authorize may make a copy of an original computer program if:

  • the new copy is being made for archival (i.e., backup) purposes only;
  • you are the legal owner of the copy; and
  • any copy made for archival purposes is either destroyed, or transferred with the original copy, once the original copy is sold, given away, or otherwise transferred.

The law stands. (In the U.S. at least). If you want to check out the the whole thing. It states that unless there is DRM in the product. Nintendo didn't put in DRM. Just made it hard by putting it on weird mediums.

Edit- You're from Australia right? It is illegal there.
