man thought it would have free ps1 games to download but after seeing that anything that is free u download wont be urs to keep after the service is cancelled looks like the service isnt exactly for me as i thought it would be

Now that i think about it, you can get your moneys worth even if you keep paying. They release things weekly so there is always free stuff to get, and eventually, the value/price of the games you got will exceed the $50.

Are sales now restricted to PSN+ members only? Or do they just get more things for sale than non-subscribers?

@Mickeymac: For the time being, it looks to be the latter. This could change over time, I suppose, but Sony claims to be commited to maintaining the existing value of the regular PSN, which should theoretically include sales. Then again, they also promised not to update Other OS out of the system or discontinue BC PS3 models, so I don't know how far you can trust them at this point.

Sounds lime mecoy wants to play the Sony Final Fantasy games worst to best, saving the best for last. That's not a bad strategy.

PS+ I looked into on the PSN the other day to see the effects of it. I saw all the games branded with the gold plus sign on them and the price reductions. Anyone could rapidly earn their value back of the service whether they wanted the 3/mo for $17 or the full year for $50 setup. Any game you buy with the price reduction you don't lose, and you don't have to reimburse the 'deal' you got either afterward. All one really has to do in a 3 or 12 month period really is to buy enough PSN games that you make the cost back and preferably make a few bucks off the setup. The only things you do lose are the FREE games is all like Wipeout if you hadn't bought it already for example.

MS really needs to get it's head out of its greedy artichoke and copycat Sony like they kind of did with the Eyeto...err Kinect idea. $50/yr to use your full games retail potential is blueberries. $50/yr to get added network features, free plays, demos, and game deals while allowing full retail games to be used w/out paying is the right way to go about it.

So as of today Ive now gotten my $49.99 USD out of PS+ by week 2 And still 14 and a half months of service left Im loving this stuff. Today also offered huge discounts on Super Stardust HD and its AddOn Content wich is all incredible. I own the game and have enough to play with Resurgence Package dropping today to need anymore to play. Great update for PS+!

Now you got it. Basically if you like what you got it's entirely useless. If you're someone who buys a decent amount of downloads (music packs, games, etc) it alone would probably save some good money over a year since the sales so far seem to knock prices down like 1/2 off and $3 here, $5+ there adds up fast. And if you're not into that, I suppose it's up to how much it's worth to someone to get a full game on d/l for free to use for a little period of time to get an honest feel for a title vs demos that tend to be shady slap together stuff that isn't all that representative at times.

@JK.... its only in the second week and so far its very promising. Actually if your a new PS3 owner and havent had access to the PSN store it would be awesome. As your getting the PSN download monthly and Minis/PSone Classics as well as all the added price cuts to already games available, and for most gamers Im sure some of the titles they would end up buying anyways at some point. In two weeks Ive already gotten my money plus some back in return and still have 14.5 months of service left, thats a dang good deal to me. As for the loosing the games when my service runs out, i say good ridance. There are very few of these DSiWare, WiiWare, Live, PSN, etc games that I ever find myself replaying over and over for more than a month or two. Im looking forward to deleting some of these games off my HD and knowing Im not loosing something I payed full price for. Heck Ive got 60gb on my second PS3 full of PSN games I dont play anymore once Ive beaten them and would love to just delete... problem Is I bought them and its hard to do that. $50 bucks for 15 monts of service when your getting more and more everyweek on top of all the Free Service that PSN offers isnt bad at all. Its beats the heck out renewing my Live account another year just so I can play online. (That last comment is just a true opinion, please dont bring the console war into this thread as its not the meaning of the tread)

I never said it wasn't. I was agreeing it was useless to him. It's kind of useless to me too as I just like to buy my game and do that, but rarely buy off PSN so maybe in a year I'd break even but I'm not so sure. I know it's a huge value, it's anti-everything the greedy setup microsoft uses, as it truly rewards the consumer and isn't just there so you can use the full value of a game you already paid for. PSN+ adds to the value, but PSN is there to do what XBL does but for free. And as you evade asked there, no I'm not new, had it since Feb 2009 when I got one +3 games and a composite cable for $400(tax included) when Circuit City bit the big one and that's when PS3 still was $400 so had I paid normal I'd have been like $550 on the tab hehehehe. I took advantage of that death very nicely as I had gone back and also got LBP, Civilization, and another game for all like 33-50% off. >:]

I would love to see this kind of sample service on all consoles. I would have all of them. Especially when the asking price is only 1 games cost per year and your getting games, not just server access. Wiiware would benefit from this type of service. I never buy the games because of lack of demos/ info on the games. I know with psn i will purchase things on top of the service because of free dlc, etc. Heck infamous is my next game purchase for sure.

@jk.... oh i wasn't implying your a new ps3 owner lol. I actually bagged a few games out of that deal myself. I bought mine and then my wifes ps3 shortly after both at the $400 price. I could never reason buying it at any higher price and it lacked games. I wasn't thrilled at first but psn gained steam and the games started piling in and now im very happy with the console. Psn+ is just an added bonus and a massive push for the small indie developers. It benefits the gamers and the small high risk companies and ill gladly pay extra to support 3rd party developers anyday!

$300 is my max cap for a console, period...I refuse to pay more as they really shouldn't cost more than that given the parts that should be inside them per generation. This current one decided instead of doing the incremental boost before the big one to just jump the ship to the big one and wanted us to take it in the butt with $400-600 prices so I stayed away. I was glad to get that sucker right on the level it needed to be when I did.

PSN+ you're right on both parts with the added bonus and the push that may very well move indie developers games and by association if they're good other ones they make too.

Oh, I thought it'd be mentioned by now, but it has been confirmed that Hulu+ doesn't require PSN+ to operate. Of course, I'm still opposed to paying for it on console, but figured this information might be helpful to some of you.

Yeah that is pretty slimy of them pulling that crap. They should just run their stupid little ads like on a computer and be done with it as I won't pay for it and I imagine most won't when they got PCs, laptops, etc that can do it just fine and if need be run it to a tv or projector screen.

I almost went hysterical because I saw Rally Cross with the gold cross icon on it and it said Free. I thought it was a sale. Nope...
