FF7...yeah sure keep telling yourselves that. They just redesigned the damn characters again and they announced this game 3 years ago. If we get anything it'll be nothing of substance, nor can I see them derailing Kingdom Hearts 3 IF it comes this year with more "Hey it's Cloud!".
All I want is a new Ratchet game. I gave up on Jak ages ago because lol, that'll never happen, and neither will Sly because that cliffhanger is just gonna go unheeded. But Ratchet has hope. Probably be what Insomniac has their second team on.

Why does the fact they announced it 3 years ago bear on the issue either way? Surely that makes it more likely to be shown than not.
They redesigned Cloud, that's all they've said. And that'll probably end up being incredibly minor changes. They're not gonna change him fundamentally from the iconic appearance everyone knows. That would miss the point of a remake.
@Dezzy Perhaps. Remember this is Square Enix though. They clearly want Kingdom Hearts out of the way first, then let Nomura go back to procrastinating on something else like FFVII.
And yes they did say they changed Cloud's design. Yes it would be incredibly minor changes. They also mentioned the same happened to the other AVALANCHE members, when shown off at that private art thing the public couldn't see because reasons.
Now ask yourself this.
If you announce a game three years ago, publicly state development is being flat out restarted about 18 months to 2 years in, and then have it leaked that you are still finalising character designs, it makes you wonder how far along this episodic game really is.
Remember any changes to character designs need to be reflected in the likely pre-rendered cutscenes, and in-game models. That's more work there.

"I've taken over the development side of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake," Hamaguchi continued. "Up until now, development has progressed by receiving external collaboration, but from here on out, with production and quality in mind, we're shifting to our in-house organisation.
"This company decision was made wanting to control quality as well as keeping the schedule stable."
In a December 2015 interview with Famitsu, Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase said that Nomura complained about a CyberConnect2 trailer for FFVII Remake and wanted it done in a more Square Enix style.
Sounds like they weren't happy with what was made in the two years.
Nothing there suggests they restarted anything more than a trailer.
As far as we know, everything CyberConnect produced was simply handed over to Squenix. There's no reason to think that much was lost. They just didn't think the relationship was working well for the project so wanted it done by the 1 internal group.
I'll probably nab the Spyro trilogy if it's remastered on PS4. I really enjoyed those games back in the day, and it'll be great to play a version that doesn't require me to use the shoulder buttons to turn.
I can't remember how often Laura Kate Dale has been correct. She's definitely been wrong about things before. I remember her saying there would be a Xenoblade X port for the Switch in the launch window.
Someone needs to keep a running tally of how often people who either report rumours or make speculations, are correct. It's annoying how little media figures are held to any kinds of standards.
I just hope they don't change the gameplay too much and it's mostly a graphics update, if anything.
The control system did improve a bit between spyro 1 and 2 if I remember rightly though.
@Tsurii It's like a weird Monster Hunter, Nier: Automata, Zelda hybrid with comic book style pop-up text, and there's apparently an army of Pikmin too. I've watched the trailer a few times, and I have still no idea what I'm looking at, or what the actual gameplay is going to be. Is it open world? Linear? Exploration or narrative driven? I have no idea.
