Anyone remembering this exact type of excitement for the PSP? I foresee history repeating itself.
You mean the same excitement that brought us an awesome console that has the best range of RPGs across all platforms, and a console that is absoilutely slaughtering everything else in Japan (the only territory that counts, as far as I'm concerned) in terms of sales and support?
Awesome. I hope your foresight comes true.
Exactly. I really don't understand how people can still bash a system that sold 60+ million units and say it doesn't have a good library of games (it has just as many games worth playing as the DS has). The PSP is the only system in history on the handheld market that wasn't obliterated by Nintendo and anyone that says it sucks (for any other reason other than not having two analog sticks) clearly is just trolling. The PSPgo is utter ***t though.

Our household has three PSP Gos. I like the console, actually.

To each his own. I couldn't justify the $250 price tag and non-removable battery among other things.

The complete lack of UMD support which takes up the vast majority of PSP games. The lack of compatibility with the PSP Camera, and even with the redesign, still no second analog. Considering the older models can do everything this PSP can, and more, and for a lot less, how can anyone justify it's price tag? Or even choosing it over the previous models?

I'm inclined to agree...I used one for a little (in-store demo model) and while the display looked great and the controls felt better, nothing really felt any different than an original PSP and that price was a bit over-nasty. Granted, memory sticks are kinda pricey too and that 16gb would probably get some mileage, but the much-lamented discontinued UMD support was the main reason I couldn't adopt it. While I understand what Sony was trying to do, doing it mid-handheld generation made it adoption by previous-version PSP owners a tough decision to make. By the time it came out I wanna say I had 7 or 8 UMD PSP games--enough that rebuying them (the 6 that existed on the store) would've cost at least half the price of the Go.
On-topic though, NGP looks phenomenal. I really hope the new job starts paying crazy-well and money isn't an issue, cause I'd love to be able to afford one when it comes out.

I bought each of them for $200 Australian, and they came with a package of 10 free downloadable games - some very, very good.
So $20/ game with a free PSP Go = bargain.
Also, the battery thing hasn't bugged me in the slightest. Never felt the need to remove it.

Doesn't bug me. I never had an early-model PSP, so I don't have any UMDs. I have enough PSP games through the PSN.

Never needed it.

16GB internal memory and a smaller, lighter, sleeker console. That was enough for me.
I realise that I'm in the minority. But that's why the PSP Go sold poorly, wasn't it? The console itself wasn't actually that bad at all - in many ways it's ahead of its time. If it was your first PSP console, then it wasn't a bad investment at all.

Well I do agree that the 3DS is quite an EXCITING system. Indeed the 3DS is revolutionary but so it seems the NGP is also. As far as I'm concerned the Sony NGP will be better than the PSP. It isn't fair to write off the Sony NGP as a loser especially as we haven't actually seen enough of it to judge it fairly. I think that the best we can do is wait until after the Sony presentation at E3 this evening.

EDIT: Ah, PS Vita = NGP. The name is neat imo. At least, they named their console besides putting a number behind it. As for 3DS being better than NGP- too early, but really, is the whole 3DS vs NGP necessary? A game console is a game console, pick up and play the one you want and enjoy it. I also wonder-
Will the people who say "3DS is expensive" will waiver NGP's expected high price? That I can't wait for.
