Topic: MY XBL ACCOUNT WAS HACKED

Hacking an Xbox is pretty simple, it's just you can get caught a little easier and get some really hefty punishments for it too... like being banned from the online service... Hacking accounts and racking up free Microsoft points with somebody elses credit/debit card isn't as easily tracked by Microsoft obviously...

I just hope Microsoft refund you for your monetary loss. This kind of thing really shouldn't happen in this day and age what with advanced security measures and all.

Well just back back from the bank and found out that the creep took me for $80 dollars which isnt bad I guess could have been alot worst.

Also found out that it was an Australian account that made all the charges. Now comes the fun task of calling MS and getting my XBL account back on my Xbox.

Microsoft can easily track thieves. For example, some punk stole an Xbox 360 and was dumb enough to connect to the internet. A week or two later, he got caught and they found stolen computers, a few other xboxes and PS3s.

All they have to do is find them through IPs. Though, hackers tend to be more smarter and can get away with things, but hopefully the crook gets caught. Imagine how much money this guy leeched from other players.

Ok well called MS give them my info and they said they will investigate which according to the guy could take up to 25 days, untill than though my XBL account is locked which I find BS but whatever. Hopefully the will be able to solve it in the 25 days and I wont be locked out of it too long. Just means I will have to move the Wii into my bedroom if I want to watch Netflix during this time.

Lucky though most of the big releases I am look to play in the next few months are Wii and 3DS.

Bummer. Maybe you'll get lucky and things get resolved sooner than later.

Not to offend- but aren't there any good long single player games? I know a few a coming out soon, but don't you have some. I notice these days lots of people rely too heavily on the online networks to play their games and act like there's no single player- this is only for online multiplayer. It's kinda sad. And I'm not reffering to you, especially when you're acting sane about the situation.

It's always good to have multiple systems though. Always helps when something goes wrong unexpectedly.

My account was also hacked around late March. But according to Microsoft, they're still investigating it..................

Truthfully I dont play too many mulitplayer over the internet on the Xbox. Mainly cause when I do I either get whinney kids that cuss at you the moment you start kicking their butt or I get annoying drunk people that I have no idea what they are rambling about. The main reason I use XBL is for the demos and Netflix and other things like that. The account I like to have cause of the achievements so now if I play any Xbox games untill I get my account unlocked I wont get the achievements. But as I said before with Skyward Sword and SM3DL coming out soon I probably wont be touching my Xbox a whole lot.

It was randomly hacked I dont have any friends on my friend list since I dont play to many XBox games online and all my RL friends have PS3s.

ah ok thank god it never happen to me as i always take off credit card info after making a purchasing from all consoles and computer i have with the strange exception of nintendo systems just to be on the safe side and this was always done even before the sony incident

hope you get your problem fixed but just seeing this kind of news makes one fear the worse if they let it shivers

Did they give you a free 30 days of Live for your troubles? When they first locked my account, they gave me a free code so that I could continue to do things like watch Netflix and play games on Live. Unfortunately, like you, I wanted the achievements to unlock for my main account so I never created a temporary account. I was able to add the 30 days to my real account when it was unlocked post-investigation so that was nice.

Also, feel free to compare games with me. My account is Ma9i. If you see enough similarities and would like to add me, please feel free. I am neither a whiney kid or a drunkard.

@Magi: Thanks for the offer. Mostly though I have only played Super Street Fighter IV on Online. More often than not if I am playing it its with my son on stuff like Smackdown VS Raw, WWE Allstars or the Lego games. There are a few single player games that I do get on the Xbox like Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham city, but over all I play my PC and 3DS more nowadays. Mostly as I said I use Live for Netflix and to check out the Demos of games that I am on the fence about.

No they didnt offer me a 30 day trial but they told me that they will compensate me with the time I lost on my Live account and give a free month of Live when I get my account back. Which would be nice since my Live membership was going to run out here in a few weeks.

Ok well I checked on my bank and everything is in order and the bank dropped the overdraft fees as well, now I am just waiting on MS to unlock my XBL account.

Still waiting on mine to be unlocked as well. 39 days and counting.

I didnt want to here that Corbs . At this rate I just might by another gold membership seeing as that mine was up this month anyway.

Well I got my XBLA account back today so not bad 20 days. For my troubles MS gave me a free month of XBL Gold which is nice. Everything looks in order there are some achievements on games that I have never played like FIFA 12 and Call of Duty but other than that the account looks in order.

Well Microsoft has official made my sh*t list. Apparently Microsoft said that the transactions that where made while my XBL account was hacked was valid. As a result they told my bank that they wont give back the money and my bank took the 80 bucks back from my account.

Well looks like I wont be dealing with MS anymore from this point forward they can kiss my a**. I am very tempted to take a shotgun to my Xbox. Way to run a business Bill f'n Gates. I hope Nintendo and Sony kick you a** in the video game wars and cause to to go bankrupt. You wont get a dime from me ever!!!!!!!!
