Topic: Is the average gamer not interested in animation?

I wouldn't say people aren't into animation just because they prefer grittier games. I enjoy watching some anime now and again, but I also enjoy watching grittier shows. I love watching Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park etc. because they're all animated but also have a gritty side to them as well which makes it even funnier.

It's all down to preference really.

I am confused about what this topic is actually about. Animation or Art Style?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Given the sales of the Pokemon and Mario franchises... I'd say there's a good chance you're probably wrong about that. There's definitely still a significant audience for more 'cartoony' games.

Indeed, if there wasn't, Nintendo would be doing much worse than they already are.

There's a good chance those sales are either

a. Kids
b. Diehard gamers who are already fans of those series and are mature enough to accept the cartoony graphics

I'm mostly talking about the mainstream gamer, you know, the people who make up a good chunk of the sales for the PlayStation and Xbox brands. They may not be as interested in something like Pokémon and would rather play something like Dragon Age or Elder Scrolls.

I think you just answered your own question there.

Sad but very true

Wait, isn't all art in games animated anyway? Sooo it's just realistic animation. I respect all types of animation, whether it's realistic or not.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

There is stuff like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_Shot_Johnny_Rock%3F that isn't really animation.

Animation is in almost every type of media, so it's kind of impossible to not be interested, or at least aware of it. Even sound effects are technically a form of animation.
