I don't get why many complain about the cost of repairs and its come to the point that repairs aren't really worth it because they are too expensive and all so yeah this really makes me wonder whether the repair services are worth it or not........

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

Well if it is under warranty then yeah its worth it. However if it is not under warranty and it's a Nintendo system it all depends how many download games you have since only Nintendo can transfer the games to another system if yours is broken.

It really depends on the amount of damage and who's repairing it. If you find someone on craigslist or something to do repairs (voids any warranty you may have, but this option is usually for those without any warranty), then you'll probably find cheaper prices. Also if you have, say, 5+ things wrong with your console it might not be worth the costs to repair it.

Your best bet is to call around and find out prices of repairs, then compare it to the cost of a new console.

In my experience, it really does come down to the extent of the damage. I had to send my 3DS in for repairs a few months ago, and while it was pricey, it still cost less than buying a new one. Also, I had a 400+ hour Pokémon X save file on that thing, and I wasn't about to give that up so easily. So in my case, it was worth it. But in other cases, it might not be.

If it is a 3DS depends whether I can do a system transfer or not. After that I would either get the part and try and fix it myself or get someone to do it who is not Nintendo. If the alternative is losing all the content I would send it back to Nintendo.

Repairs are sometimes as costly as a new system that's one of the reasons Nintendo's system of tying games to consoles sucks

i can see a problem should my 3DS ever break and i wouldn't be able to transfer my stuff anymore. I'd probably want to take that opportunity to upgrade to a XL or limited edition but it might just not be possible when i want to keep my downloaded stuff.
