Topic: Deep Silver Acquires Homefront IP; starts new studio next to Crytek UK to develop

Clearly tired of Crytek's "transitional phase," publisher Deep Silver's parent company has acquired the Homefront intellectual property and related assets from Crytek. Homefront: The Revolution was under production at Crytek UK, with recent reports declaring production had halted and the game's director resigned.

So Crytek's money woes over the last year or so haven't been a secert, but it looks like they're selling off IP to stay alive. It was reported last week that Crytek UK had finally been paid, but instead Deep Silver have bought the Homefront IP from crytek along with Crytek UK renaming them.

Only a matter if time before microsoft gets Ryse.

I want to like Deep Silver but I'm pretty sure they haven't published a game worth caring about(Saints Row 4 doesn't count) and Homefront was a really uninteresting FPS that's only notable for helping the death of THQ.

To elaborate before a person decides to say it does count, Saint's Row 4 was being developed by the actual developer (originally as DLC for 3) before they were bought by Deep Silver, Deep Silver was just nice enough to let them complete what they were already making. I'd like to believe that will continue (and more often than not that's what a publisher should be doing) but dumber things have happened from even the smartest companies.

I like deep silver's current line up. Not all of it appeals to me but its nice to see a new somewhat Major Publisher out in the ether,
