Topic: Call Of Duty: Black Ops Thread.

I am thinking of picking this game up so if I have any questions which thread do I post in?

I got my PS3 today with this game along with it to get onto the bandwagon of the kids driving me crazy in my school talking non-stop about the game...now I can be one of them!

Not an FPS fan, and this, honestly, is the first one I've ever owned other than Half-Life. I never usually liked FPS games because of being killed in multiplayer modes and complex controls. Black Ops is different I think. I love the game. Looks awesome and plays great and it's easy to learn and pick up and play for an FPS game (never played many though.)

Once I get good by playing through Campaign, I'll get into the online mode, which is the focal point of the game. I have yet to try zombies as well

That it's the best Call of Duty this generation?

That its campaign borderlines a psychological thriller and abandons the usual 'oh big explosions look pretty yay' ways of the Modern Warfare games?

That Call of Duty finally has a semi-balanced online multiplayer with the greatest wealth of modes the franchise has ever seen?

Ok thanks TBD. I will probably be picking up the Wii version since it seems that more people from this site are getting the Wii one. I just wasnt sure if this one encompases all of them or the 360/PS3 ones only or what. I just wanted to make sure so that way if I have any question they can get answered.

I'm loving this game so far, personally. My bro got it for the 360, but I would've gotten it if he hadn't. (he really was considering not getting it, too. Weird, since he's bought every other CoD game and they're virtually all he plays besides Madden, ML Baseball, and the occasional Square RPG).

Right now, I'm renting this game for Wii. I'm not getting my 360 until Christmas, so I'm just playing through some online and some zombies, saving campaign for 360. But so far, it's great! Best one I've played (well, I've played all of them)

Even Modern Warfare 2?

I want it because of the setting. That is about it, but it is very nice that the one I want is much more balanced with respect to kill streaks and perks. Oh, I also want this game every time I hear the music they play in the trailer (which only requires "hovering over" it in the spotlight thing).
Every once and a while, I get an urge to wield a Garande and a Springfield. I just love the weapons of the WWII era and I wish that there were more games with Red Orchestra-like gameplay. I am really excited for Red Orchestra Heroes of Stalingrad though! I can't begin to explain how much fun I have even if I really suck, get next to no kills (or none at all) or really accomplish anything. I think I need to redownload Red Orchestra...

Does anyone else find Zombies to be really hard or is it just our lack of a good strategy atm?

It is hard, that's why you and your friends have to work together. I've never seen anyone get past wave 15, even at the best of times.

Yeah, I think Black Ops is better than MW2. Online is more balanced and there is Zombies.
And yes, the new zombies is pretty hard. I've only gotten to round 9 solo, and I know someone at my school who's gotten to 15.

I'm liking the online in MW2 better than Black Ops but not by much. Of course Ill be on Black Ops for a long time with its new maps and all my friends and family playing. All that said, MAG is still the bomb.

I'm really enjoying this one after the let down that as Modern Warfare 2. I'm liking how they balanced it out a bite more and added some real depth to multiplayer. The lack of camping due to killstreak rewards not counting towards your killstreaks is very welcomed, I am also enjoy the maps a lot more.

I'm level 40 online and I can officially say that this game online is broken. The lag is horrible, MANY times you will see a guy come through the door and as soon as you can press the button to fire you are dead, this is because the guy is already through the door and shooting you on his screen As well as constant Connection Errors, sometimes every match for hours of play, the graphics are not that great, even when ran at 1080p and the supposed balance of the game has created a imbalance in the game.

None of the guns feel really capable. The hit detection is so bad at times that when firing on a opponent the opponent will literally disappear off your screen, only to be there when you stop firing. You might shoot a guy point blank in the head with a shotgun to watch the "X" appear where the hit registered, but the opponent will kill you with one shot of a SMG/Assault Rifle in the Killcam.

At first the game felt great, but the more time I put in the more unimpressed I am with this game. The single player online and Zombies as well as the top down shooter are all great but online just isn't. I've seen many people go back to MW2 already many indy reviewers around the internet are starting to drop much lower reviews on the game. I'm guessing that once again, no public beta has proved to be a severe blow to this franchise, when will they learn?

Yeah... all that lag is called not using dedicated servers... Now you know how the PC community felt when MW2 came out.

What platform are you playing it on?

Either I'm blind (which would make my KDR is AMAZING lol) or I haven't experienced any of those problems.

I've had the occasional glitch or two, and quirky hit detection, but nothing to make me go back to Modern Warfare 2.
