Topic: Smash bros Deluxe?

I think it would be cool to get a smash bros game soon on the switch, but I am in the boat of Nintendo releasing a brand new one.

I feel like SSB4 could definitely be improved upon, but, however, I still believe it should stay on Wii U and 3DS. There are so many things Nintendo could do with the Switch's mechanics in a brand new game. But, there is another way.

The other part of me feels that they should rerelease the game. If they were to do that, I would expect to see a handful of new characters and a campaign mode. Just releasing the game as it was before, just with DLC included, could be a marketing flaw for Nintendo.

Many people were disappointed with MK8 deluxe because of the lacking new cups and karts. The battle mode was a great addition. If Nintendo wants to keep up releasing Wii U games on the switch, they must add original, new content.

So, if Nintendo can really beef-up the content in SSB4 and release it for the Switch, I'm all in for it. Although, it would be better for them financially to make a new one, to build up hype for the fans.(We all remember the SSB4 hype, right?). To sum it up, New Game = More Hype and likely more sales, Beefed-up re-release = Quicker smash bros port and less sales. Both options could easily please the average Nintendo fan, so, I'll leave it up to Nintendo now to make the call.

@Aozz101x It's possible a team have already been developing one for a few months to a year.

You think we'll get inklings and Arms characters? Would only be natural. Make an inkling and an Octo one. And 2-3 ARMS characters. Ill take Mechanica please.

I see no point in them working on a brand new game from scratch for the Switch. What's the point? There isn't much for them to improve upon at this point, other than balancing out the fighters and perhaps adding in some new stages so that current players don't feel deprived of pretty new things to play.

I think Smash is one of those franchises that has pretty much stagnated at this point. I suspect that any improvements from this point on will be purely superficial. However, a fresh single-player campaign would be much appreciated.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

I don't think we need a new Smash Bros. But if they're gonna rerelease Smash Wii U, at least work really hard and give us a remake of SSE or better still give us a sequel to it. It was the best single player campaign IMO. Who's with me?

Don't give them the bad idea to port just the Wii U version.
It has to be the Wii U + 3DS version + all DLC at least
and then maybe + a few new fighters&stages + a single player campaign.

@SKTTR I don't think that's realistic. I was expecting this:

  • All Wii U base content
  • All 3DS only content or all DLC
  • Some extras (e.g. a few characters and/or stages)

@Grumblevolcano The Deluxe / DX games have gone beyond 'some extras'. I think you are being stingy lol

@GrailUK Think about the cost of Smash DLC though, the total was nearly double the price of the game itself.

Does more characters mean more Smash amiibo?

@Grumblevolcano Your right, but they made on the game already. By rights it should now be heavily discounted. Instead, they get to go again as a full price game to a new audience. Ker-ching.

I doubt they'll include a full extra single mode for Smash, if we get few new more characters in a port it'll be that.
And I don't see it coming this year, since they want to push Arms - maybe next year when they start with the paid online.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I do think it's coming at some point. It's one of their most popular IPs and there's definitely room to add more to the game. There was a lot of disappointment on how the DLC poll panned out and there's always room for more content since it's based on other IPs which are constantly releasing. So they could do a lot with games like Splatoon, ARMS, BotW, Mario Odyssey, Pokemon SM, Kirby Planet Robobot, etc.

Super Smash Bros 4 was great, but a port of it would be disappointing. I don't want any time spent on a port for SSB, I want them to work on a new one. Really, all of the ports on the Switch is making it an undesirable product for me.

I guarantee we will get a Super Smash Bros U DX exactly a year from Splatoon 2, then the new Pokemon game a year from Mario Odyssey. Smash would have potentially overshadowed/cut into the ARMS and Splatoon online play this year. Also, me and a ton of others never got a WiiU so this is basically a new game to most Switch users by the next summer's install base is tallied, vs loyalist Ninty Switch owners this year.

I'd prefer for a new Smash, but if they were to do a Deluxe version, I would hope it'd include the Wii U game + DLC, plus a few new characters and stages.

What I'd really like to see is another Subspace Emissary. I actually enjoyed it a lot and was disappointed in the lack of a similar single player mode in SSB4. I never played much online, so most of my enjoyment came from Subspace Emissary and the challenges.

@OfNullAndVoid Completely agree, subspace Emissary on the Wii was great fun, collecting all the characters as you went, collecting the statues and powerups and then going up againest the bosses.
