Arguably the best cowboy western themed series of games.
A must-play for fans of open world games.
Hopefully this won't be a disaster of an effort by Rockstar like the GTA ports were.

Never played, but I am certainly keen to! Like others are saying/doing - I'll be waiting for reviews to roll our (+ no doubt Digital Foundry will do a piece on this... their work of late is excellent)
This will sound strange, but I'm also hoping for both Y-axis and X-axis inversion options for camera. This is a unique sickness I know, but for years I've played all 1st/3rd person games with X camera inverted... and it is now engrained in my muscle memory! (I had to drop Ashen recently, as no X-axis inversion was making it a nightmar)
Did rockstar/devs include X inversion in GTA definitive edition for Switch?
I'm sorta surprised (I take no stock in rumors so had no clue this was inbound) as I would have figured they would have ported GTAV first.

I was totally obsessed with this game back on PS3! I completely 100% finished everything including the zombie DLC. I never got around to playing much of the sequel. I had a sudden unfortunite life changing event of the loss of my father at the time it released and had to shelve it until i dealt with that. I fully intend to get back to it at some point.
Anyway great news! This game so deserved more exposure!
@Link-Hero I do not think that the GTA Trilogy travesty will have any impact on the sales. The power of the franchise name is the strongest selling point for most games. Just wait and see how people will shove the next Pokemon games in their throats even after Scarlet/Violet
Always find it fascinating how angry and destructive people on social media and sites become over releases like this. This game is going to sell huge numbers because people always forget or don’t understand they’re not the majority. The Switch seems the perfect fit for this re-release. I’m still on the fence because I want to see it in action on the Switch before buying it. But if it’s a good port, I’ll need little convincing.

Yeh the media is assassinating this - "Crappy Port", which seems a bit unfair?
All we know right now is that it is essentially just a standardised port, no bells/whistles etc, aimed at an audience who may not have ever played this.
Performance and port quality can be gauged in reviews.
My only comment is that is does seem a tad expensive considering its age.... but in saying that, Rockstar know they'll 'get away with it' and it probably makes cold-hard business sense they do this (sucks for the consumer, but I get that they're a company with targets/overheads/EBIT considerations)
The assumption is that the RDR port will be similar to the GTA Trilogy port (which was less than the bare minimum port of the mobile version and needed extensive post-patching to correct). I don't believe that'll be the case. Considering Double Eleven's track record, I think this will fall closer to the Switch ports of Demon Souls, Borderlands, or Assassin's Creed Black Flag. It may not come across as an "impossible port" since we're talking about a PS3/360 game, be it'll be serviceable.

@CJD87 There's a bit more to the criticism than that. The multi-player has been removed completely, which was a very substantial part of the original game: there was freeroam with other players, a horde mode, and many other game modes. Couple this with the steep price tag, and it's understandable why so many have taken issue; it's a hard sell 13 years later, especially without the full game.
Granted, I'm a sucker for portability, so this is a dream come true. I'm disappointed in how it's been handled, but I'll probs pick it up. I understand those who don't buy it though, as this port has been handled badly.
@SpringLand ah I must confess I'm slightly ignorant as to the multi-player element... I'd stepped away from gaming during this period, so wasn't clued in to RDR's release and various facets of its existence etc.
I wonder if the Switch would be capable of handing multiplayer? I'd like to think so, considering it does quite well to facilitate 4-player PvE in Monster Hunter Rise.
Ha funnily enough my main issue is the potential exclusion of X-axis inversion.... it is a sickness of mine for sure, but I am basically incapable to playing any third person games without both Y and X axis camera inversion... (I don't think the original RDR had an option for X-axis inversion? So probably unlikely the port will?!)
My only comment is that is does seem a tad expensive considering its age....
This right here is the issue though in my opinion. I do agree that I find criticisms of straight ports a bit overbearing (people always go for the cliched criticism that it is apparently "lazy"), as personally I am generally more than happy with fairly straightforward ports and that's all I am clamouring for as a fan of a particular game that I want to be able to play on Switch and modern platforms. Take Skies of Arcadia as an example. I absolutely love that game and I would love to be able to play it on Switch, but all I want is the same game I played and loved all those years ago. At the most, if they could take the enhancements of the Gamecube version and use the uncompressed music and sounds, then that would be great. But I don't need some fancy remake or remaster. I digress though...
The price is the issue here. For a basic relatively untouched port, with even features being removed (multiplayer I hear), then I think charging what is close to full retail price of a new game is a bit gross. I won't be paying that and will be waiting for it to go on sale. I have seen them arguing that it has the DLC to justify the price, but that's a pretty weak excuse.
